Risk It All

Chapter 3

~Zoie's POV~
That night when we got home, Gabbie and Jack were waiting up for us.
"Late night much?" Gabbie said, wiggling her eyebrows. I shoved her head gently as I walked past.
"I'm gonna go to bed. Goodnight." Daniel said, kissing my cheek.
"Goodnight." I replied.
"So???" Gabbie asked once he was gone.
"What?" I chuckled.
"Are you two a thing?"
"Gabbie, it was one date."
"Oh c'mon, there were clearly sparks!"
"I'm not in the place to be a thing with anyone. Okay? You of all people should know that." I snapped. Gabbie just looked at me in shock. Then I heard Lavender crying.
"I'll get her." I sighed.
"Don't bother." Gabbie scoffed, getting up and walking out of the room. As soon as she was out of the room, Jack went after her. I sighed and put my head in my hands.

Later that night I was sitting in my room, unable to sleep. It was almost 2 am. Then, my door opened.
"Hey." Gabbie sighed as she walked in.
"Hey what're you doing up?" I questioned.
"Couldn't sleep."
"Same." I replied. It was quiet for a few seconds but it felt like hours. "Look, I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. I'm just scared."
"I know Zoie. But you can't let him control you. Okay? You deserve to have a relationship. Not every guy is like him." She told me, referring to my last boyfriend who abused and raped me for years.
"I know. I just don't want to get hurt again." I sobbed. Gabbie hugged me close and I just cried in her arms.

The next morning I woke up with Gabbie and Lavender in my bed. Jack was walking in.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." He whispered.
"You didn't." I said as I stretched.
"Hey could you make sure Gabbie gets up by 9:30? Lav has an appointment." He asked.
"Yeah no problem." I nodded. With that, he left. Soon, Lavender began cooing. I got her up, changed her diaper, and we went downstairs.
"Hey." Daniel smiles as he kissed my head when we walked in.
"Hey." I smiled back. I really like him. I want us to be something more. "What're you doing today?" I asked him.
"Rehearsal. How about you?"
"I'm not quite sure yet."
"Well, I get an hour and a half off at noon. You should come get lunch with me."
"Okay." I smiled and nodded. When I looked up, I noticed it was 9:30. So Lavender and I went to wake up Gabbie. Once Gabbie was up I went to get Lavender ready for the day. First I gave her a bath. Halfway through that, Daniel walked in and hugged me from behind.
"How's it going?" He asked as he put his chin on my shoulder.
"Good. Shes just about done." I said as I washed the soap out of her hair. "Could you grab her butterfly towel?" I asked. So he did and brought it over and we wrapped her in it.
