Risk It All

Chapter 8

~Zoie's POV~
As Gabbie and I drove back home for my appointment, I contemplated what would come next. Everything was changing. When we got to the doctor, we got Lav out and headed inside. We checked in and were taken back to the exam room.
"Gabbie! It's so good to see you! Is this our little Lavender?" The obstetrician, Dr.White, asked.
"Yes! She's almost a year now." Gabbie smiled.
"You must be Zoie. I'm Dr.Wright. It's so good to meet you!" She beamed at me as we shook hands.
"Hi nice to meet you." I smiled back softly.
"Okay! So, you're pregnant. First?"
"Yeah."
"So we'll take a blood pregnancy test first then depending on how far along you are we'll go from there." She nodded. I nodded back and we got ready to take my blood.

About twenty minutes later, Dr.White came back in.
"Alright so you are definitely pregnant. And judging by your test we think you're about two months along. So we can do an ultra sound today if you want or we can wait for dad to be here if he's in the picture. It's up to you." She nodded.
"I wanna do it today." I decided.
"You don't want to wait for Daniel?" Gabbie questioned.
"I just wanna do it now. I wanna see it." I nodded. Dr.White nodded and we got ready to do an ultra sound.

When we got home, Gabbie went to put Lavender down for a nap. When she got her down, she came and sat beside me.
"Gabs. I'm leaving." I sighed.
"What?"
"I can't stay here. Daniel has a career. This baby would hurt that."
"No it won't! What about Lavender and Jack?"
"That's different Gabbie. You can travel. I can't. I'll stay until I start to show. But after that I'm going home." I told her.
"How am I gonna take care of Lavender without you? You've been there since the day she was born."
"I wouldn't be much help after I have mine anyways. I'll visit you. I just don't want Daniel to know. You have to respect that." I sighed.
