reunited - dustin x harrington!reader

[SEASON THREE PLOT SPOILERS] requested by PuddingLover- 'dustin x harrington!reader request taking place during the last episode where the part reunites with dustin, steve, robin, and erica. and reader reunites with steve and dustin' thank you for the request! i hope you enjoy this, i haven't been getting a lot of dustin requests :( sorry this turned out kind of short, i'd love to make a part two with protective steve? let me know if you'd enjoy reading that (aka someone request some dustin stuff because i don't write for him enough even though he's my favorite character)

y/n had no clue where her brother was. as soon as steve had been late coming home from work, she assumed the worst. after witnessing the events that had happened the past two years (the demogorgon, the mind flayer, the upside down, eleven, etc.), y/n was quick to think that her brother could be dead at anytime. y/n would not have thought, however, that he was trapped in an elevator or being tortured by russians.

eleven had called y/n and max to talk about mike, who had been treating his girlfriend like, as max put it, garbage. y/n had planned to just spend one night at eleven and hopper's house and then go spend as much time as possible with dustin, who had been at summer camp for a month. however, she was in for a surprise when eleven saw max's stepbrother allegedy torturing a girl. max tried to convince her that they were just "happy screams", but the other girl didn't seem convinced. when the trio went to visit heather, the girl eleven had seen billy with, she seemed fine, as did billy.

still not convinced, the girls went to max's house. early in the morning, the girls were met with a call from the rest of the party (minus dustin, who was still mia). they said that they needed to meet up to talk, and the girls agreed. will had apparently sensed that the mind flayer was back, and y/n explained that billy could be the new host that will spoke of. after searching for hopperand joyce, the group was met with the conclusionthat the adults they had worked with before were going to illinois, and weren't available.

the group decided to take matters into their own hands, hunting billy down and locking him into the pool's sauna, his reaction proving that he was the new host. eleven was able to beat him after he choked her nearly to death. the party didn't know what to do anymore, considering that the adults couldn't be found and billy was possessed.

a lot of crazy things happened, including eleven getting bitten by the live version of the mind flayer. max was able to help clean the wound using her knowledge she'd gained from skateboarding, and lucas collected a pile of fireworks in hopes they would help. y/n was growing a bit anxious about where dustin and steve were, she hadn't seen either of them in days, even though she'd been calling dustin like crazy. mike's walkman started making sounds, and dustin's voice was on the other side. he kept cutting out, so they didn't know where he was or if he was even okay.

y/n found herself at starcourt mall, and eleven was in a lot of pain from her leg. y/n' heart skipped a beat when she saw her brother, steve, and dustin just a flight below her, along with lucas' sister and a random girl that worked with steve. but things were definitely not right because some men were looking for them. eleven used her mind to fling a car at the men, the group below them slowly sticking their heads out from behind a counter.

time seemed to stop when steve and dustin made eye contact with y/n. she slid down the escalator, running the rest of the way to them. her arms were first around steve, him kneeling down and holding her waist, bringing her down to kneel with him. y/n felt something wet drop on her, and she looked up to see steve crying. "hey, steve, i'm fine now." she assured her brother, wiping his tears. "you look like shit, what happened?"

"we can catch up later. right now i'm just glad you're not dead." steve spoke, face nuzzled into y/n's hair.

the younger girl smiled, patting his head. "i'm going to go say hi to dustin now, okay?" she asked, looking at him with kind eyes as her brother nodded rapidly, muttering a series of 'yeah, yeah'. y/n chuckled, standing to look at the curly haired boy on her left. he was smiling his gorgeous smile, blue eyes bright with happiness. y/n giggled a little, walking over to him. as soon as she was close enough, dustin had pulled her body into his, arms wrapped around her figure.

y/n could feel his smile on her shoulder, his curls tickling her cheek. they stayed in an embrace for who knows how long, not saying a word. "y/n, i-" dustin began, getting cut off by y/n's lips. when the girl pulled away for air, dustin smiled, blushing when he went to speak again. "i love you."
