the sauna test PART TWO - billy hargrove x fem!reader

billy had attacked the party and his girlfriend, resulting in a confrontation with eleven. the young girl had basically kicked his butt, and y/n was left confused. her boyfriend had, scary as it may seem, attacked her, his sister, and her friends. he clearly wasn't himself anymore, and needed to be stopped. however, the billy hargrove y/n loved was still deep down, and she almost dared to hope she could bring that version of him back.

eleven had gotten bitten by the mind flayer, and so the whole crew was at a gas station, hoping they could find some tools to cleanse the wound. y/n helped lucas collect fireworks, thinking that his idea was a good one. the whole group moved to starcourt mall after dustin was screaming about the gate. y/n, seeing steve harrington, immediately pulled him into a tight hug, trying to explain to her friend what had happened to billy.

y/n had hoped to see billy, but was frightened when she saw him in his car, pressing the gas for no reason. steve barely saved nancy wheeler's life, stopping billy from hitting her with his car. y/n had rushed with eleven, mike, and max into a small room. billy found them almost instantly, throwing max and mike to the side. y/n stepped infront of eleven protectively, looking into billy's eyes.

"billy, this isn't you." she spoke. billy's eyes softened slightly and he looked up to meet her gaze. "you love cars and rock and roll and sometimes even soft ballads. you love to slow dance to queen songs and led zeppelin and every song." y/n continued, eyes locked on his. "and i love you." something in billy shifted; y/n had never used those words. his eyes for lighter, almost back to his crystal blue.

"step out of the way." he finally spoke, catching y/n off guard. "i don't want to hurt you." the broken boy had tears streaming down his cheeks and y/n grabbed his arm to try to push him back from eleven, trying to give her a chance to run away. everything went dark, and y/n fell to the floor.

when she woke back up to max shaking her, mike was still on the floor but eleven no where to be found. the trio walked to the center of the mall, where the most noise was. billy was there, seeming about to offer eleven to the mind flayer. lucas started throwing fireworks at him, the rest of the group joining in. the mind flayer, at this point, was too confused to do anything to eleven. billy was on top of eleven who was talking to him, his eyes softening and his grip loosening.

before y/n knew what was happening, billy was standing infront of the mind flayer, screaming. the mind flayer stabbed him and billy screamed. y/n couldn't look away, petrified. when the noise stopped, she ran over to her boyfriend's body, max following her.

"i'm sorry." billy said, looking at his crying sister. "i love both of you." his eyes glanced to y/n before they stopped moving and both girls clutched each other tightly, crying over their lost billy.
