"what if she doesn't like it, though?" eddie asked, looking over at richie. the boy was sitting with his hands in his hair, rufling it in his stress. "i mean, what if she just walks out? or what if it's too much? or what if it's not enough!?"

richie chuckleed at his friend, looking over at the stressed eddie. "calm down, eds, it's just one date." richie assures him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

eddie's current state of stress was arisen due to the date he'd soon be going on with y/n. she was perfect, everything that eddie had ever hoped for in a girl. when eddie had finally told richie his feelings for her, the boy wouldn't stop making it obvious; silently shoving eddie closer to y/n or telling y/n to look at eddie's "adorable outfit, don't you think he's adorable?". eddie thought that surely his friend's remarks would scare the girl away, but they only made y/n feel more hope for the possibility of eddie liking her back.

the date wasn't planned, originally. eddie hadn't planned to ask y/n if she wanted to "you know, go on a date with me?" until it suddenly slipped out. the school day had just finished, and summer was officially beginning for the losers' club. the group had all met up by the bicycle rack, talking abot y/n until she got there. billy was attempting to calm eddie's nerves while the boy couldn't thing straight knowing that she had agreed to the date.

"h-hey, y/n."eddie said, smiling nervously at her. the group, who had been making fun of eddie's smitten behavior, shut up when they finally saw her.

richie chukled awkwardly. "shut up, eds, you sounds like buh-billy." the group all shook their heads, unamused, and began their ride home.

the next morning, eddie awoke at the crack of dawn. eddie looked through his clothing, cursing the fact (opinion) that he 'didn't have any nice clothing'. eddie finally decided on some blue short shorts with a white polo. because he didn't enjoy his outfit, the boy spent nearly an hour working on every single imperfection he saw in his hair. he looked a little ridiculous with his hair gelled down completely, but he didn't think that y/n would like him the way he normally was.

little did eddie know that y/n was also panicking over her appearance, stumbling over every little detail.

eddie met y/n at her doorsstep. (obviously eddie wasn't letting her come to his house, his mom would interrogate her and not let him hang out with her). y/n was looking perfect, as she always was, and eddie had to catch his breath. "hey, y/n" he said, smiling a little. the two got onto his bike, where he promptly drove to the destination of the date, which had been a surprise location.

the date was at a beautiful tree-filled gorge near the quarry. eddie had run by previously and had set up an adorable little picnic, a cute blanket spread on the floor with a small basket. in the basket were small sandwiches and cans of tea, as well as some assorted fruits. eddie had, of course, stolen all of these from his mother, who would kill him when she found out that he'd stolen all of her precious fruits.

"this is beautiful, eddie." y/n told him, smiling as she sat down on the gingham blanket.

eddie looked up somewhat shyly, muttering a soft 'like you', looking down again once he realized she'd heard him.

the two spent the rest of the date laughing and sharing jokes and stories, eddie now not regretting having asked her out.
