If Alister King's goal was ruin Benedict Cumberbatch's career...he failed that goal. As it turns out, many theater directors in London saw Ben preform and loved him. They also hated Alister King because at one time or another, he's written nasty reviews about their plays.
Ben was getting hired left and right, sometimes working on more than one play at a time! He was getting headshots and sending them all over London and even got himself an agent! This agent was able to get him on his first mini series. After that, he was getting more and more on television than he was on stage.
Him being on TV was more work than rehearsing for plays almost every night. Filming would sometimes go on for hours, from early in the morning to really late at night. The good news about it was, between his pay checks and Cassie's book payments, they were finally financially stable! Unfortunately, they still couldn't afford to send Aiden to a deaf school, so they enrolled him in public school.
Thankfully, he seemed to enjoy it as he came out everyday with a smile on his face and talked about the friends he had made. He even had them over every once in a while to play. With all of that going on, though, was a frustrated Cassie.
She had published her new book a few months ago and it ended up being her number one best seller. That was amazing in itself, but the publishing firm wanted her to write an entire series based on it. Because 'Harry Potter' has been doing well with so many books coming out at a time, they thought they could make the same profit from Cassie's books.
They wanted one published per year, but wanted her to submit two at a time. She told Jeffery how unfair that was and threatened to get an agent if he couldn't work out a better deal. That wasn't the case. So, she got herself an agent and was able to work out a better deal of one submission per year. It was still a lot, but better than before.
With that weighing on her mind, she was also taking care of Aiden all day, except for when he was in school. She had to drop him off, pick him up, make his meals, help him with homework, put him to bed, the whole nine yards and all without Ben. By the time he came home, he was so exhausted, he would fall into bed and go right to sleep.
During Summer was the absolute worst.
While Cassie tried her damed best to write, Aiden was invited to pool parties, birthday parties, play dates and all sorts of places she had to take him to. She brought her laptop with her everywhere they went so she could get some work done.
Ben was working up until the last few weeks of Summer and Cassie was thankful that he had the next few months off.
"I need you to take him to Julie Richman's house on Thursday for her birthday slash end of Summer party, and then he has Astor, Collin and Reed coming over Friday and I need you to be here for that." Cassie was telling Ben all of this after he came home from his final day of shooting.
He looked down at the list she wrote him and said, "Right. Question, though, where will you be?" She was packing up a suitcase on their bed and he was terribly confused and somewhat worried. She sighed, then told him, "I told you, my book got recognized by the New York Times and they want me to meet with their editors."
Ben slapped his hand to his forehead and said, "Right! Right, sorry, it's been a bloody long six months. Have I told you how proud I am of you?" She smiled as she said, "Yes, you have, every time I've reminded you." He wrapped his arms around her waist and said, "Well, I'm still so proud of you. Come here, gorgeous thing."
He took her chin between his thumb and index finger, then gave her a passionate kiss. When he pulled away, he said, "You are going to kill it. They'd be crazy not to snatch you up. Have you told Jeffery?" She shook her head. "I can't," she said. "He's the one that gave me my big break and leaving him like this after nearly seven years is going to break his heart. I'd rather just rip the bandaid off and tell him I got it, rather than leave him worrying."
Ben pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Whatever you think is best," he told her. "Have you thought about my proposition?" She laughed as she asked, "What, the proposition of knocking me up? Yes, I have." He fell into bed, then asked, "And? What do you think?"
Cassie zipped up her suitcase, then set it to the ground before crawling into bed while saying, "I think we have bigger priorities than that. For example, our six year old son. He's the biggest financial burden we are ever going to have and, yes, we are financially stable for now, but we'll be broke if we have a baby right now."
He moved his hand over her stomach and gave it a gentle squeeze. "We'd figure it out," he told her. "Come on, I'd love to have a little girl. Don't you want a baby girl running around, borrowing your make-up, giving us heart attacks from the boys she brings over?"
She giggled as he started to kiss her stomach. "I don't think you get to choose," she laughed. "Oh, yeah?" He asked with a small laugh. "Because I read," he continued as he got flat on his back and pulled her on top, "that if the man is on bottom and the woman is on top, there's more chance of getting a girl."
Cassie moved herself until her crotch was aligned with his. "Do you believe everything you read?" She asked. He hummed in approval when she started to slowly unbutton his pants. "At the moment," he said as he put his hands behind his head, "yes." He watched as she pulled down the zipper.
He sucked in a sharp breath, when she reached into his pants. "That's it, baby, you know how I like it." She quirked an eyebrow and pulled her hand back. "What about me?" She asked. "How do I like it?" He quirked an eyebrow back at her, then flipped her over.
She started giggling as he quickly undid her jeans. "Oh, I know how you like it, baby. I know where you like my mouth and tongue." He shucked off her jeans with her underwear and threw them across the room. He kicked off his own, leaving both of them naked on the bottom half.
He spread her legs apart, then leaned down and kissed her wet folds. She whimpered and bucked up her hips to his face, but he moved his head away. "That's for when you come back to me, darling," he lowly told her, "but for now..." He rolled them back to where she was on top, "...let's test my theory."
