Norma had tears rolling down her cheeks as she looked in Alex's eyes. He looked so excited and determined and it made her heart melt. She loved this man and wasn't going to miss out on staying with him forever.
"Yes! Of course, I'll marry you." Norma finally said.
Alex smiled like never before and slid the small diamond ring onto Norma's slender finger. Once he admired her hand with the ring, he stood up and hugged Norma tightly.
Norma held onto Alex as tightly as she could, crying tears of joy as she was finally going to marry the man of her dreams. As the couple hugged and cried, an envious redhead stood in the distance and watched. Her eyes, full of tears to the sight of the couple.
The man she wanted to marry was now marrying a woman that she could never compare to. Her envy and sadness grew into anger and she stormed off.
-
Norma and Alex got out of the SUV and leaned against the side, waiting for the boys to be dismissed from school.
As they waited, they talked about their wedding plans and children. It made them even more excited about the whole situation.
-
The school bell rang and Dylan stood up from his desk, putting everything that was on his desk, inside his book sack. As he did that, three boys that were the same height as Dylan, walked up behind him. The 'leader' of the three boys, tapped Dylan's shoulder.
"Hey mamas boy," the leader taunted.
Dylan ignored the boy and zipped up his book sack, then putting it on his back.
"Don't ignore me! I'm talking to you," the leader snapped.
Dylan walked away, trying to ignore the words the leading bully had said to him.
The bully charged at Dylan and pushed him to the ground once they were all outside. Dylan screamed and punched the boy in the face, causing the bully to kick Dylan and punch his face. Norma knew the bell rang and was getting anxious because her boys always ran to her and Alex, excited to tell the couple what they had learned.
A circle had now been created so every student could watch. The teachers were too busy gossiping near the busses to pay attention to the young boy who was getting injured.
Norman was apart of the circle and was getting mad at the bully so he decided to go at him. He pushed the bully back and kicked his knee.
"Leave my brother alone!" Norman yelled.
The bully laughed and pushed Norman to the ground.
-
"Alex, they should be here by now," Norma stated, worriedly.
"I know. Just breath and stay right here, I'll go look for them. They're probably just talking to some friends." Alex said, trying not to sound worried.
Norma nodded her head and watched as Alex walked to where the busses were, knowing all kids left out of the back of the school. When Alex was finally in the bus area, he saw a circle of children screaming and cheering.
Alex ran over to the group and saw the boy kicking Dylan mercilessly. Alex pushed pass the kids and pulled the bully away from Dylan. He then knelt down and picked Dylan upand grabbed Norman's hand, turning to the bully and glaring.
"Come with me, now," Alex demanded, in his stern, sheriff tone.
The boy listened and all the kids quickly ran to the other side of the school to meet up with their parents. Alex has taken Dylan and Norman to Norma and walked the bully to his parents.
Once he met up with them, the young boy had tears running down his face. The parents of the bully looked at the sheriff and then their son; the mother knelt down and tried to stop the tears coming from the boy.
"Sheriff, what happened?" The father asked
"You're son has decided to fight my son. He also hurt my youngest son who is in kindergarten." Alex explained
"Is that true?" The father asked his son.
The boy looked at Alex and his father, nodding his head. The father rolled his eyes and the mother sighed.
"Apologize to the sheriff," The mother demanded
"I'm sorry, Sheriff Romero. It won't ever happen again." The boy apologized
"I would like for you to apologize to my son next week," Alex said.
The boy nodded and looked at the ground; ashamed that he was caught in his act.
"I'm sorry for all the trouble, sheriff. And if you don't mind me asking, since when have you had kids?" The father asked.
Alex held back the rude words that were about to come out and gave the only words that sounded kind, "I keep my family life private. Nobody really knows I have kids.".
The man nodded and smiled, "Alright, well, I'm sorry again for my sons' reckless behavior.".
Alex nodded and walked back to Norma and the boys.
-
"This is going to sting," Norma whispered, as she cleaned Dylan's cuts.
Dylan didn't flinch nor said anything, he just sat there with a poker face.
When his mother was done cleaning his wounds, he ran up to his room and slammed the door shut. Norma sighed hearing the door and cleaned up all the medical supplies.
Alex walked into the kitchen as Norma started grabbing things from the refrigerator. Alex walked over to her as she put everything on the counter, and wrapped his arms around her. Norma relaxed in his touch and laid her head on his shoulder.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked, kissing his fiancé's neck.
"Nothing at all, I'm just tired," Norma replied, turning her body to face him.
Norma leaned against the counter and Alex wrapped his arms around her again.
"Maybe you shouldn't cook tonight. Maybe you should go take a nap and I can order a pizza or something." Alex said.
Norma smiled and leaned in to kiss her soon to be husband. As she pulled back, her eyes caught the ring on her finger. It made her smile.
"This is a dream," Norma whispered.
Alex smiled and shook his head, "This isn't a dream. We're here together and we're soon to be forever." Alex whispered, back.
Norma looked into Alex's eyes; her heart wanted to leap out of her chest.
"I can't believe I found someone like you. You're just- so perfect," Norma whispered, tears coming to her eyes.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Alex asked
"I don't want this to ever end," Norma whispered
"And it won't, trust me," Alex replied.
A tear fell down Norma's cheek and Alex wiped it away, "Go get some rest, baby.".
Norma nodded her head and kissed Alex before leaving the kitchen.
