It was a cold, dark summer night,
when she went out to look for a chrysanthemum.

The light was flickering inside the lamp as her footsteps rustled in the dried leaves, along with the noise of crickets.

Breathing heavily,
she stopped in front of an abandoned church far from the convent.
"I've never been here before," she mentally said.

Like a scorpion that's drawn in the dark, she made her way to the wooden gate, contemplating whether to open it or not.

Suddenly, the old church bell started ringing as the door opened,
revealing the man who was standing in the middle of the aisle.

"That's so brave of you to come in my place," he growled lowly. "Your soul disgusts me, mortal."

In the blink of an eye,
he was standing in front of her.

She didn't tremble in fear
and looked up to him and said,
"Whoever comes to light will never be afraid of the dark. But you, who comes from the dark, will always be afraid of the light."
She reached out and touched his cold face as his breath hitched.
"I'll bend on my knees and ask Him to forgive you whatever you have done," she said, smiling.

The only source of light was slowly dimming as his heart was pounding in his chest, not minding the tingling sensation all over his body.

"You don't understand, mortal. I can never be saved. But if you insist, I know a way you can."

The thought of him devouring every bit of her purity made him smirk in excitement.

Alast,
He found the bravest and purest soul of a mortal.
