Setting Out

About a week later, Y/N was making some final adjustments to his backpack. As he packed up what he needed, he thought back to the talk. After Sheena had sat him down and talked to him about potentially leaving the town to explore the region and understand his place, he had taken some time to think about it. He wanted to discover his purpose, but he did not want to leave Sheena. Gardevoir had told him that she would always protect him no matter what, and that seemed to brighten up Y/N's spirits. Sheena was helping him prepare for his long journey by putting the supplies they had planned for Y/N to take with him, including where in the backpack they would go. After Y/N had put everything in the area of the backpack which he and Sheena had planned they would go in, he also added in some Pokemon food recipes, Pokemon food for Starly and Gardevoir namely the dry and spicy Poffins for them, food for him to eat as well as the sweet Poffins he loved to have after dinner, a few tools he could use to prepare the food and a map in case he got lost. Sheena didn't want Y/N to leave, but she knew he had to if he wanted to find out where he came from, and to meet new people. When everything was packed up, Y/N put his backpack on, sorted out his hair and opened the door. Sheena handed him a small device and Y/N looked at it in confusion

"It's something to contact me in case you want to talk or feel homesick", she said before she gave Y/N a hug. Y/N returned the hug without hesitation

"I'm gonna miss you Mom", he said and Sheena wiped a tear from her eye

"I'm going to miss you too Y/N. I hope one day we see each other again", she replied. Y/N smiled

"We will one day. I know it", he replied before he adjusted his bag and looked at Gardevoir and Starly

"Are you two ready to see the world?", he asked and the two Pokemon nodded. Starly hopped up onto his head and Gardevoir held his hand. The three of them waved goodbye to Sheena and began their journey. When the town was out of sight, Y/N pulled out the map and looked over where they were

"Alright, so we are here", he said pointing to the path just north of his hometown. "And the nearest Pokemon center is in this town here", he said, pointing to a place known as Floaroma Town which was pretty far from where he was. It was just on the other side of a Pokemon forest. Y/N looked at Gardevoir, then at Starly.

"You two confident enough? I hope I trained you enough with your powers", he said to them. Starly chirped in confirmation and Gardevoir nodded.

"You helped me get better at Magical Leaf and even helped me master Heal Pulse. We should be fine if we stay on the trail", she said and the three began making their way through the forest. Starly quivered in uneasiness, but Y/N gently held the small Pokemon close to comfort them. The marking on his back began to glow, causing him to stumble and drop Starly. Gardevoir caught him and helped him stand. Starly got back up and looked at Y/N in worry for his safety.

"The marking...something's causing it to glow. I think it's because there are so many wild Pokemon here. The sooner we can get to Floaroma Town, the quicker I can get this marking seen by Pokemon experts. I need to understand why it's glowing, and why it is even here", Y/N murmured. Gardevoir looked around the forest and many other Pokemon were looking at them. Some of them seemed to cower at the sight of the marking through Y/N's shirt.

"Whatever that marking is, it's something that is scaring the wild Pokemon. Let's get moving", she said and helped Y/N out of the forest with Starly following behind. The wild Pokemon looked at each other and murmured. None of them had seen a marking like that before, yet it somehow scared them. Like the human had some connection to a legendary Pokemon. It made them quiver in fright, but also wondering if this human was connected to a legendary Pokemon. Either way, they decided it to be best to leave him alone.
