Chapter 10: The Crushes

"Aphrodite, wake up." A strong hand moves through my hair making me sigh and snuggle into the warmth that lays under me.

I frown in my sleep as I try to move.

Why does my body hurt so much?

"Wake up, I need my coffee or I'm going to murder someone." Something cups my cheek, I recognize Thanatos' scent and his hand but I guess my brain isn't awake yet as I lean into his touch.

He can murder someone, he just needs to hide the body and get rid of all the evidence.

Just let me sleep.

"I know you're in pain, Aphrodite but I will tickle you." Thanatos threatens, his voice sounding dark but amused. My eyes pop open and I'm left staring into Thanatos' eyes. I squeak and move back, my legs coming up on either side of him and my hands press into his chest as I sit up.

"I thought you were a good person," I mumble sleepily. "But tickling someone for coffee is just evil."

"You'll condone murder but not tickling?" He asks, raising one dark eyebrow.

"Yes," I yawn. "As long as they deserve it and you get away with it go ahead." I give him two thumbs up and a lazy smile.

"So you'd still think I'm a good person if I murder someone?" He asks, his voice sounding amused even if he was controlling his face to be that ever blank look. We lock eyes and I see all the emotion shining through.

"No, because now you threatened to tickle me. I didn't take you for the tickling kind of guy." I brush through my hair with a light blush, knowing how crazy the curly strands got overnight.

I pull them into a ponytail, my wrists hurting making me wince. I look down at my wrists, the bruises more defined than yesterday. I frown, it's going to be a pain in the ass to work in the cafe.

"And I didn't take you as the straddling type of girl," Thanatos says. My eyes widen as I look down at our position. I am, indeed, straddling his hips.

"Oh," My mouth hangs open. "I didn't mean to - I'm sorry, I just-" I slowly get myself off of him and onto the floor to stand where I shiver due to the sudden cold. "Let's just go get your coffee, Death."

"Hm... Alright." Thanatos stands before whispering, "I never said I minded you on top of me like that."

I had to strain to hear him, and I know he didn't mean for me to catch what he did but I already heard him.

A giant blush crawls up my cheeks as I hurry into the bathroom.

Thanatos goes into a different one as we brush our teeth.

I see the pain meds that actually work on me on the counter and I waste no time in taking some.

Making my way into the kitchen I press my hands into my cheeks and I sit down at the breakfast bar.

Thanatos enters a moment after me and I watch him move around my kitchen as he makes a pot of coffee.

"Does my face look bad?" I ask, Thanatos freezes slightly ask he looks up at me. I see the look in his eyes and I crack a smile. "Not asking if I'm ugly or pretty to you personally, I'm asking if the bruise is bad."
