Please don't take offense, but-

When I say that dark chocolate is gross, I don't mean it isn't good. I'm just stating that milk chocolate is obviously the superior, tastier choice.

Oh, duh. You're here for the story.

Chapter 22: The Interruption

"You know... you've been working here since I opened this place, right?" I ask towards Josephine as both of us bend over to look at the disaster she calls a cake that currently just exploded in our oven.

"Yeah," Joey says nervously.

I bite my lip.

"Then you should definitely know how to bake a cake," I tell her. Joey turns to me with a small glare.

"I know how to bake a cake," She snaps. "This one was just complicated."

"If you say to," I shrug, not wanting to start any fights.

Then, Apollo swings around the counter, taking one look at the mess and starts to laugh

Which, of course, starts a fight.

I sigh and move around the bickering pair. Thankfully, it was one of our days off. The cafe was empty and had no witnesses to my friend's bickering. Damon was sadly going home tomorrow so all seven of us were going to dinner tonight and then having our last sleepover with him.

I'd miss Damon, like always.

But this time felt different, it felt like when he'd leave I'd be left completely bare, completely vulnerable.

I didn't know what to make of Thanatos now, honestly.

He said he loved me but it's obvious that he doesn't want to. He doesn't want to love me, he doesn't want to be with me, so what did he want?

"Stop fighting," I ordered as I heard Josephine's loud swearing.

"No!" They yelled in sync.

"Bitch, don't talk to her like that!" Joey slapped the back of Apollo's head, to which he retaliated in jabbing her hip quite harshly. "I'm going to cut you with a rusty knife."

"Ha!" Polo laughed, not threatened at all. "Go masturbate with a cactus."

They need to stop.

The guys are going to get here soon and they do not need to see my friends throw yet again, another tantrum over something so stupid.

"Okay," I slam my hands onto the counters. "I'm a very peaceful person and I'd like to think that when I speak, I'm listened to. Now, I am all for respecting bounders and understanding someone's motives so when I say I have more dirt on both of you than either of you know about, understand that I am willing to spill all of it, just for giggles. So please," I smile at them. "Stop fighting."

Joey and Polo stared at me in blatant fear, they quickly nod and step away from one another.

"I'm just gonna-" Polo pointed towards the backroom.

"Yeah, me too."

And just like that, they disappeared from my sight and I'm left staring at the abomination that's in my oven.

"That was hot."

I jump and spin around, my hand over my heart as I see Damon, Thanatos, Maven, and Osiris stepping into the cafe.

"It worked, that's all that matters," I reply to Damon, gulping when I open the oven door, fear, and slight panic filling me as the ovens heat washes over me.
