Oh, duh. You're here for the story.

Chapter 33: The Engagement

"Love?" Thanatos tapped the counter making me snap back into reality from where I had zoned out- thinking about last night when Thanatos had joined me in the shower.

I blush and quickly look to Thanatos, then away.

"Um, y-yeah?" I stutter out, my hands clutching onto the coffee maker as I turn around to make a drink for a customer.

"Are you alright?" Thanatos leans against the counter, his dark eyes making me nervous but calm at the same time as I look back at him.

Nervous because I don't want him to know what I'm thinking about but calm because I know if he did, he wouldn't care.

"Yes, I am." I smile up at my boyfriend, grabbing a muffin that the customer ordered with their drink before moving around the counter to give it to them. They thank me and I nod. Moving past Thanatos I kiss his cheek and say, "I'm alright- just thinking."

"Hm," He comes closer to me and cups my face in his warm hands, hearing up my already blood-stained cheeks. His thumbs brush gently across my cheekbones as his adoring eyes bore into mine. "What are you thinking about, my love?"

You and me. In the shower.

"Nothing much," I cuddle into his chest making him chuckle and drop his hands from my face as he wraps his arms around me.

Luckily, I only threw up once today and the nausea hasn't been so bad but I've been having mood swings.

I think its because Im a day late for my period and all my hormones are out of wack. I've never been too consistent for that time of the month, though, so its nothing unusual.

"You're cuddly today," Thanatos notices, giving me a small squeeze and I laugh shaking my head.

"Actually, I'm always this cuddly," I inform him without thinking. "It's just, before, I thought I wasn't allowed to hug you."

I know everything Thanatos did was to hide his feelings; that he didn't actually hate me, or any of those nasty things but after so many years the effect is still there.

"You can hug me or kiss me, or whatever, whenever you want to." Thanatos kisses my nose.

I giggle and roll my eyes, "For the hugging and kissing, I'll mostly read body language but for the 'whatever' else, you know I'll always ask permission, right?"

"Why?" Thanatos tilts his head like a puppy and raises a lone eyebrow at me.

"Consent and boundaries," I say and understanding fills Thanatos' eyes. One thing I like about Thanatos, compared to other men I know, is how respectful he is.

"Both of those are very important." Thanatos agrees. "Although we have an incredible understanding of one another, we still need to talk about boundaries. Shall we, while we wait for your crazy friends?"

"Maven and Osiris are your crazy to claim, Death, not mine." I wiggle away from Thanatos to quickly flip the open sign to closed as the last customer fills out. "But let's create some boundaries while cuddling, yay!"

Thanatos chuckles at my silliness and catches me when I knock into a table while spinning around, probably looking crazy while doing so.

After establishing boundaries, we are currently eating some M&Ms and drinking hot chocolate, Thanatos drops a bomb on me: "I want you to meet my mother."
