I hate to say this...

But it's getting close to the end of the book! It's weird, honestly. I've written all these but at the same time, it feels like I've made zero progress. I love you all! And I'm also editing which sucks a tremendous amount.

Oh, duh. You're here for the story.

Chapter 29: The Savior

The first thing that I did was wash the blood off of my hands.

It stained slightly and it's making me feel disgusting.

The next thing I did was grab my phone and car keys and drive to Osiris' apartment, the one he rents out for half of the year while he stays in the town instead of at his house.

I found a bloodstain and the knife where Dave tried to stab Osiris, apparently, I got here before the cops.

I didn't touch anything.

I hurriedly walk to my car, feeling paranoid by the dark night air all around me. No one is outside but I feel someone watching me.

My phone rings and I jump.

I get into my car and lock it before pulling my phone out of my pocket. I gulp, it's an unknown number.

"Hello...?" I answer hesitatingly, my heart beating fast in my chest. I don't wish it would disappear, now I only wish it would stop breaking.

"Ah, my little dove," Dave purrs making me tense. "Did you like my gift?"

My jaw clenched at his amused tone. How can anyone find beating someone, kidnapping their friend while leaving another one bloodied and bruised on their doorstep a gift?

"Where is she?" Is my reply even though his mere voice terrifies me. "Where's Joey?"

"Oh, that's her name!" Dave laughs, even over the phone, it manages to give me goosebumps. "I've just been calling her Bitch."

"I'll do whatever you say," I plead. "Just let her go safely."

"Hm, you will?" I can hear the smile in his voice. "Come to where I used to tame you bratty kids up. Trading if you will. You for her."

"Done," I say, starting my car. "Let me talk to her."

"Don't believe she's alive?" Dave gasps, mocking hurt.

"Why I'd never kill- oh wait!" He chuckles. "I already did kill someone. You."

My blood runs cold, my fist clenches around the phone as I stare blankly at the road in front of my car I go well over the speed limits.

"Just let me talk to her."

"So boring," Dave tsks. "Here's the bitch." I hear shuffling and the sound of clicking, like she was put in chains.

Knowing Dave, she probably was.

"Dite," Joey sobs and I have the urge to break down with her. "Don't do it. Please, please don't-"

I hear a slap and I gasp. "Joey! Joey-"

"She should have kept her mouth shut. You have twenty minutes or she dies. No cops." With that, Dave hangs up.

"No!" I scream slamming my free hand into the steering wheel. "Shit!"

I know it's dangerous but I do it anyway, I switch my gaze from my phone to the road as I call Thanatos.

"Love-"

"No time," I rush out. "They're keeping Joey at 1467 on Mongroven Street in Waterbury. It's forty minutes away if you take the highway and run red right."
