Kody's POV

I sat in the corner of my dark, unkempt room. Clothes were strewn across the floor, my bed sheets were falling off the bed, My pillows were thrown across the room, and my blanket was kicked off every single night. It looked as if a tornado came through my room.

I groaned as my stomach growled at me loudly, causing me to bury my face deeper into arms that had pulled my knees to my chest who knows how long ago.

It's been around two years since Lumine went missing, though it's felt like it's been a thousand years of being trapped in a cage that I trapped myself in, and now I just can't get out. No. I'm too far in. Too deep. Stuck. I'm stuck here, chained to its rusty hold on me. How could I leave? The doors open. The door is fucking open, and I still can't leave. And suddenly, that door is closed, the cage seems it's getting smaller. I can't move. I can't fucking move. There's no chance for me. No. Nothing left. I'm closed in, locked in now.

And suddenly the door creaks open. A ray of hope illuminates the cage, which seems to be slowly fading away. Yes. Fading. Will I finally be-

" Kody! " My dad grabbed me by my shoulders. I gasped loudly out of shock and banged my head against the wall behind me. The contact caused me to groan as My Dad stared at me with a concerned expression.

" Kody, why are you crying? " He said, letting go of my shoulders and moved back, still wearing a concerned expression.

" Huh? " I mumbled, touching my cheek. Sure enough, it was wet, seeming to be pretty fresh.

" Anyway.. Get some rest. It's quite late already. We have a place we are going to check out tomorrow morning. There has been several reports of strange noises coming from said place. Lumine may be held there- " Before My Dad could explain further, I crawled into bed, My back facing him.

" Good night, Kody. " I could hear the relief in his voice.

I didn't answer.

" Kid, wake up. " Sherry said, shaking me slightly. I grumbled something and then shot up from bed.

" Shit, shit, shit! " I hissed under my breath as I slipped on a jacket and some shoes and ran outside, the snow crunching beneath my feet.

I was able to catch my breath while I waited for everyone else to get outside. Once Dad made sure everyone was here, we set off into the forest.

I lingered by my dad, who was in front of everyone, which was around 10 people in total, including Sherry and Silver.

Before we knew it, an old cabin enveloped in trees and weeds was before us.

I could hear a faint whimper from inside. I looked up at my dad, who motioned for me to move back. He opened the door with ease, allowing the door to swing open.

Sure enough, an older man, probably in his mid 20's, stood over Lumine, cursing a string of threats at the frail boy, who huddled in the corner of the cabin.

I didn't realize I was holding my breath until I let it out, sounding shaky and filled with unease and anger.

" ..You are under arrest. Now, would you mind stepping away from the young one? " My dad said.

The man opened his mouth to protest, only to have a pair of green handcuffs appear on his wrists. He was escorted out by a few of the people we brought, allowing me to head over to Lumine.

As I got on my knees near his small, crippled form, I gently cupped the back of his head and pulled his bare form towards me.

He whimpered again as I ran my fingers down his back. I felt many large scars and far way too many open, bleeding wounds.

I pushed him back by his shoulders, possibly being too harsh, because it caused him to squirm and whimper underneath my grip.

" Sorry.. Your going to be fine. Just close your eyes. We will get you out of here. " I said soothingly while letting go of him. He nodded warily and closed his eyes. Only a minute or so later,  I could tell that all the consciousness left his body.

I sighed and took my jacket off, slipping it on his underweight body. Fortunately, I had grown a lot taller than him during the two years, so the jacket was oversized and covered.. That.

" Come on. We've got to get him home. " My dad said while picking Lumine up. He moaned softly in his sleep and buried his pale face into My Dad's, most likely, warm chest.

" If you drop him- " I started as we left, but my dad sighed and playfully rolled his eyes.

" Don't worry. I won't. You just relax, okay? " He reassured, patting my head and slightly ruffled my hair. I groaned as we walked back home, my eyes never leaving Lumine.
