"Let's go back to the story of the princess who freed herself from the evil den of dragons, shall we? She had-"

"Yuna." Kyoya stared at her solemnly. "I don't want to hear the story of the princess. I want to hear your story."

She sighed, but continued, her voice at a more melancholic tone than the fairytale optimism she had previously presented. "Remember how you asked me why I was in bad relations with the organization?"

"Yes."

"Well, the truth is that we were actually very close. Since most of us were orphaned or abandoned, it seemed like we were family. That is, until that job..."

"Job?"

"As you know, we were hired by people to assassinate specific people, known as 'targets'. They were usually someone of high status and power, but we only took the proposals to kill people that brought great evil to society." Her voice grew quiet. "That is what I believed, until I met Luka."

She recalled her initial reaction when reading the profile of the new target. "Fighting skill, one hundred. Intellect, one hundred. Equality in strength, speed, power, and instinct—all full scores. Brutality, one hundred. King of the underground mafia business. Currently undercover as a civilian at XXX hospital. Satan actually offered to take the job for me, but we both knew he couldn't. I was the only one on par with the target."

"It felt like I had found another monster. In a way, the thought comforted me. Yet..." The gilded irises were once again red, like a gem emerging from a fire doused out. "Our first encounter was completely different."

At this point in the story, Kyoya has settled into the large sofa with Yuna tightly snuggled under his arms. "How so?" He prodded gently for her to speak.

"Following sources, I found his private mansion hidden atop the mountains. There was security there, but not bad enough that I couldn't make it through." Her lashes fluttered. "I still remember...up to the third floor, the fourth room at the end of the hall, I saw..."

Flashback
A figure drowned by drapes of darkness slipped through the open door. No lights were on, but her trained eye could make out the raised lump beneath the shadowy sheets. Without a sound, she drew the dagger from its hilt and aimed for the heart.

Clang.

"It's been a while since someone has made it this far. I am impressed." A glint of metal was visible, blocking her strike. Her heart sank. "But now, are you ready to face the wrath of the king?"
