Danny's POV

I woke up that morning horribly hungover. I took some Advil and made my way carefully downstairs. I prepared myself a small breakfast that consisted of toast, eggs, and orange juice. I didn't know how to make much. Cooking was always Steve's expertise. I needed a job, and soon. I grabbed my laptop and searched up places that were hiring. My options were Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, or Panda Express. I decided to request an interview with each of them and see which replied quickest. I turned on the tv and went on with my day.

Two days later

Chick-fil-A responded quickest. They told me to be there by 10 am for an interview. It was currently 8:30. I ate a bowl of cereal, brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and got dressed. I was determined to get this job. Hell, I even polished my dress shoes. Before I opened the door, something caught my eye. I turned to see what it was that grabbed my attention. It was a picture of me and Steve. I sighed softly.

"I'm doing this for you Stevie my love. Doin' it for you." I whispered as I opened the door and walked to my car. I drove to Chick-fil-A, and walked in.

"Hi there, you must be Danny. Pleasure to meet you." A younger boy said to me. He couldn't be older than 25. His name tag read 'Samuel'. I shook his hand with a forced smile. I wanted to punch this punk kid.

"Pleasure's all mine." I said through gritted teeth.

For Steve, for Steve, for Steve, do it for Steve.

Samuel lead me back into a cramped office and offered me a chair on the other side of his messy desk. He grabbed a pen and smiled again.

"Can you tell me a little about yourself Danny?" Samuel started the interview off. I lightly smacked my legs awkwardly and let out a groan.

"Well," I hesitated. "I like to watch tv and sleep and uh, that's about it." I explained. Samuel nodded as if expecting more but I didn't have more.

"Awesome. How'd you hear about the position?"

"The internet."

"Ah. Why do you want this job?" Samuel smiled yet again. I painfully smiled too.

"My boyfriend recently fell into a coma, he was the one who did all the heavy lifting, brought home the bacon, you know? With him gone, I still gotta provide for myself."

"Oh well I'm very sorry to hear that Danny." Samuel consoled me. I nodded and smiled faintly. He asked me many more questions and explained how working here would be. They're a Christian company and are closed on Sunday's. I laughed a little to myself being as how I'm a former sleep paralysis demon trying to get employed here.

"Thank you for seeing me here today." I said to Samuel. He nodded with another smile.

"We'll call you if we decide you're right for this job alright?" He told me as he walked me to he door.

"Sounds good, thank you so much." I shook his hand again.

"Of course. Have a good night, drive safe." Samuel waved to me. I turned around and walked to my car.

"Sheesh. That punk never stops smiling. Isn't his face sore all the damn time?" I grumbled to myself and drove to the hospital to visit Steve. I walked into the room where Steve lay on a bed. I gently kissed him and sat down in a chair next to him. I grabbed his hand and kissed it.

"Hey baby. I hope you had a comfortable day. I uh, I went to Chick-fil-A today. A job interview, can you believe it? There was a kid, total punk, interviewed me. Never stopped smiling, it was ridiculous." I stopped to laugh. Steve's hand twitched. It twitched. I gasped excitedly. I continued talking to Steve with a humongous grin until a nurse came into the room telling me that visiting hours were ending soon and I needed to leave. I kissed Steve goodbye and drove back home where I slept better and happier than I had in a while.
