Danny's POV
My job at Chick-fil-A started in three hours. I was a combination of nervous and excited. Hungry too now that I was thinking about it. I sauntered downstairs and fixed myself some breakfast. Afterwards, I dressed in my uniform, combed my hair, and brushed my teeth. I kissed a photograph of Steve I had printed to put in my wallet before I stuck it inside the pocket of the clear pouch of my wallet. I got to the car and drove to the fast-food restaurant. I had already had training and was ready.
I walked into the building and immediately was put to work. I put on my biggest smile and greeted customers, took their orders and helped the ones who needed assistance. Before I knew it, the day had ended and I was on my was to the hospital to visit Steve. I told him everything about my day and some more until a nurse came in to tell me visiting hours were ending. I kissed Steve and went back home, exhausted.
I made myself Spaghetti-o's and poured a glass of wine for dinner. I settled on my couch crease and watched 'The Golden Girls' on Hulu. Those women are crazy, it's hilarious. Dorothy is my favorite of them personally.
I ate my dinner and drank my wine while watching tv until it was 11:00. My shift tomorrow started at 9:30. I decided I'd better go to bed now, so I finished my wine and put my dishes in the dishwasher. I walked upstairs with an unusual spring in my step that hadn't been there since Steve went into his coma nearly five weeks ago. I smiled to myself. Not because something was funny. Just because.
Things were finally turning up for me.
I got ready for bed and slinked under the covers and closed my eyes with the smile still on my face, feeling bright as the sun.
