I do not own The Vampire Diaries or The Originals.
Klaus' search to break his curse had led him to a small town called Mystic Falls. His many, many sources had finally become of use to him and he had heard that little Elena Gilbert was his freshest doppelgänger. Of course - as soon as his brother Elijah had confirmed this - he made his way to the small town with his witch - and lover - Greta.
As he stepped out of the vehicle, he inhaled the 'small town' air and sighed. "I can smell the victory, already." He turned to a vampire lackey and grinned, "Isobel's informed me that she's led Katerina here"- he dug into his pocket and pulled out a slip of paper with an address on it -"Bring her to me."
"What would you like me to do?" Greta asked.
Klaus shot the witch a dimpled grin, and wrapped his arm possessively around her waist. "You will help me with this history teacher. What's his name again? All I can remember is that it's something strange."
"Alaric."
"That's the one!" He mused, turning to address Maddox. "Find him."
"Where shall I start?"
Klaus sighed, was Maddox actually dumb or purposely trying to get himself killed? "Perhaps a good place to start, would be where one would usually find a teacher, during school hours."
Maddox left without another word, and Klaus turned to face his lover. Toying with her brought him a great sense of satisfaction, both in the bedroom, and knowing that once he no longer had a need for her around - she would make a delicious snack.
Patiently waiting around was not in his nature, so he decided to walk around the town in order to familiarise himself. He had no need to hide his face, no one here knew what Klaus Mikaelson looked like (especially since he had ensured Isobel Fleming had a silver dagger and some white oak ash to dispose of Elijah, temporarily).
He wandered around the small town, and despite the fact that he personally enjoyed places with more energy and to-do, he found it quaint and homely. It was one of those typical towns where you wouldn't expect bad things to happen.
He wandered through a grassy area, glancing towards the few people that were dotted about. There were a couple of middle-aged women pushing infants in prams, an elderly man reading a newspaper on a bench, a young woman out for a jog, and a couple of men riding their bicycles.
Klaus felt his mobile vibrating in his pocket, and he held the device to his ear as soon as he accepted the call.
"Yes?"
If it wasn't good news, then someone was going to lose their head. Klaus glanced around the park, already looking for the inevitable body replacement.
"We have Katerina."
"Excellent."
He hung up the device, and allowed the unsuspecting humans another day to live.
Klaus made his way back to where he had left Greta, to find the elusive Katerina Petrova in a temporarily dead state. The Original crouched down beside the doppelgänger and twirled a lock of her long brown hair around his finger menacingly. He would enjoy finally giving her what she deserved, after her betrayal.
"Maddox called," Greta began, "He has the teacher, he's sent over an address."
"This day just keeps getting better and better." Klaus stated, clicking his fingers and gesturing for his vampire lackey to pick up Katerina. "Let's just hope that we don't run into any problems, else I shall have to replace one of you."
"The landlord is on his way too, to invite you inside the apartment." Maddox informed him.
At least the idiot had redeemed himself, for the time being.
They arrived to Alaric's apartment, and the Original (deciding against being invited inside) snapped the landlord's neck in order to gain entrance to the history teachers humble abode. Oh, how he loved to put fear into people!
Klaus casually step over the threshold with a grimace, "You must be Alaric. You could've shown a little hospitality, by tidying the place up a bit."
"I didn't know that I was expecting guests."
"Just a bit of forewarning, mate: you're not going to remember the next few days." The Original motioned to Greta and Maddox to prepare their spell.
Klaus watched with mild amusement, as Alaric tried (and failed) to free himself from the ties that bound him to his chair. Katerina awoke, and Klaus took immediate satisfaction at seeing her face pale, and her eyes widen in fear.
"It's been a long time, Katerina." He grasped her by her cheeks and forced eye contact, "You shall not leave this apartment, without my permission."
Her pupils dilated immediately, "I won't leave this apartment, without your permission."
"Good." He proceeded to stab her in the neck with a pencil, and he felt joyous as her screams of agony reverberated around the room. "Keep the noise level down a tad, love, we don't want to alert the neighbours."
"The spell is ready, Klaus."
The Original clapped his hands together, and opened up a beautifully carved coffin. He had ensured (through his sexual attention and false proclamations of love to her) that Greta would cast a protection spell over the coffin whilst his body was dormant.
He made himself comfortable, and he felt a slight tugging sensation as Greta and Maddox cast their magic. Within seconds, he felt as though he were floating, and then, he was finally placed in the history teachers body.
"Klaus?"
He grimaced. The feeling of aching arms and stiff legs greeted him, and Klaus almost felt sorry for humans if this was how they felt; lethargic and weak.
"Obviously, Mister Saltzman has had a drink before work." Klaus tutted, standing up in his new body to try out his temporary legs. "God, this man is a deadweight."
He made his way over to a mirror and groaned at the reflection that greeted him, "I feel sorry for him, having to wake up to this every morning. I even pity Jenna Sommers; that's the Aunt, right?" He asked, turning to Katherine.
"Yeah." She replied, finally having pulled the pencil from her neck.
"No need to be so frightened, love," Klaus mocked, enjoying watching her squirm. "I'm not going to kill you. Not yet anyway. You're going to tell me everything I need to know, about the lovely Elena and her friends."
