Bethany had obviously not expected to be hitting a club on their werewolf hunting trip, for she hadn't packed the required outfit. Although, Klaus was not disappointed with the summer dress that she wore. It was a little short, but he was not going to tell her to go and change. She had also allowed her unruly curls to frame her face, and Klaus marvelled at how long it was. She looked like an ethereal beauty; a Princess from a time long forgotten.
"Are you ready to go, sweetheart?"
He could see that she didn't particularly want to go, and he was thoroughly annoyed that she would rather go somewhere she didn't like than spend time alone with him.
In any case, he bought (compelled) them each a drink as they arrived at the club, and they toasted to Ray Sutton's health.
Once she was actually in the club scene, Bethany enjoyed herself. She found a small gaggle of girls to dance with, and Klaus kept an eye on her from his place in the booth. She was wearing the same dress she had been in his vampire killing vision, after all.
As Klaus enjoyed his bourbon, he watched Bethany as she left her new friends and made her way up to the bar to get herself a second drink. Stefan was still nowhere to be seen, and Klaus assumed he was out the back draining some poor soul, of their blood.
The Original Hybrid sipped at his drink, and watched his little artist as she leant against the bar, her dress rising a little more at the back to allow him a better view of her long and slender legs.
"You look beautiful."
Bethany laughed a little, "Thank you."
Klaus' attention was furiously seized by the young man, admiring his little painter.
"Can I buy you a drink?"
His found his jaw clenching when the blonde blushed. "I've already paid." She lied, "But thanks anyway."
"Then how about the next one?" Klaus could not believe how feeble-minded this man was. Why did he think with his loins, and not his brain? It would make it a lot easier for him to take the hint, that Bethany was not interested.
"Sorry, but I'm the designated driver." Klaus had to scoff at that one. After being the passenger in the car, Bethany was not going to be driving again.
He watched as the two conversed for a while longer, the sound of the music increasing slightly so that he couldn't hear what was being said between them. But obviously, the guy was flirting, for the two had their heads lowered beside one anothers and his mouth was moving close to her ear. Bethany blushed again, and laughed at whatever he had said - and the bloke looked positively thrilled at his accomplishment. A pang of jealousy shot through Klaus' chest.
Klaus heard Stefan join him, and he took his eyes off of the artist for a moment to acknowledge the Ripper.
"Having fun?" The Hybrid questioned.
"The girl started to run."
"Don't you just love it, when they do that?" Klaus grinned, and Stefan smirked as a response.
"Where's Bethany?" Stefan asked then, his eyes moving around the club and the dancefloor. "I thought, with being how close you seem to want to keep her, you wouldn't let her out of your sight."
"She's by the bar, being flirted with." But as Klaus turned his gaze back to the bar, the blonde was nowhere to be seen.
Stefan chuckled darkly, "Looks like someone got lucky."
Angered, Klaus' glass of bourbon smashed in his hand and he pierced a shard through Stefan's thigh. He felt a blinding rage build up within him, and it was then that he realised that it wasn't just his inner alpha that demanded to find his mate, Klaus himself felt like he needed to. Why hadn't he looked at the man's face and recognised him as the vision vampire? How could he have allowed his petty jealousy, get in the way of his focus?
"Go and find her." Klaus snarled, "And if you find them before I do, leave the bloke to me."
Stefan yanked the shard of glass out of his leg, and left without another word. The younger Salvatore checked both bathrooms and the front of the club, whilst Klaus left through the back - having picked up Bethany's scent. He had spent a lot of time with her, in close proximity, for weeks, so he knew exactly how to pinpoint her.
He smelled blood the moment he stepped outside, and he vamped towards the delicious scent to find that the bloke and Bethany were in the midst of a fight. The beautiful blonde was bleeding from her neck, where she had obviously been bitten and she was currently kicking the bloke from the bar in his stomach (just like his vision had shown him!) The vampire was knocked down to the ground, but quickly shot to his feet as Bethany hopped up the side of a dumpster where there was a discarded chair.
She raised it up and smashed it against the vampire as he advanced towards her - smashing it to pieces in order to get herself a stake.
Klaus debated helping her, but it looked as if she was holding her own. Pride swelled up within him at seeing his little huntress in action. But he didn't want her to be harmed anymore than she already was. Would she appreciate him swooping in and taking over? Probably not.
But when she was disarmed and he could hear her heartbeat suddenly racing in her chest - he was quick to vamp forwards and rip the vampires heart out from his chest.
Bethany had squealed at his sudden appearance, but as soon as the body of her attacker dropped dead to the ground, she let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you alright?" Klaus asked her.
"I think so." She replied, running a hand through her unruly hair. "Thanks for, err..." She gestured to the bloodied organ in his hand, and Klaus let it drop on top of its owners decaying body.
He crouched down and wiped his hand clean on the blokes jacket. "No problem, sweetheart." He replied, rising back to his full height. The wound on her neck was still bleeding, and he could see that she was loosing colour in her usual rosy cheeks. "Here." He took a couple of steps forwards until he was in front of her, and bit into his wrist. He pressed it almost forcefully against her mouth, and she drank tentatively before turning her head away from him.
"Thanks." She wiped her mouth on the back of her hand.
"Something smelled delicious."
Klaus rolled his eyes towards Stefan, and although he agreed that the smell of Bethany's blood did make his mouth water - he snarled towards the Salvatore, "Your timing is a little off, mate." He gestured towards the dead vampire by his and Bethany's feet. "Throw him in the dumpster. We'll see you back at the hotel, in the morning."
I am so sorry for the almost year long wait! Life has just been constantly in the way!
And with the added pandemic too, oh my god. Writing has been a helpful distraction!
I hope you're all safe and well!
