One Kill (One Shot Prequel)

If you asked Son Dongju what he does for a living, he'd say he works at his brother's bakery. That wouldn't entirely be a lie, but his day job differs greatly from his night one. Dongju may look cute, but he's trained to be a ruthless killer. Although, he hasn't even shot anyone yet. He prefers to be a guide.

Which is why he's confused that he's standing in a debriefing room with three other field agents. They're his good work friends too: CyA, Rin, and Woong.

"We need you to retrieve a stolen device from our rival agency's warehouse."

"And why would you need assassins for this mission?" Rin asks.

The man sitting at the head of the table smirks, "No witnesses. If a rival agent sees you, don't even think before you shoot. We need agile and skilled agents for this mission, which is why you're all here. You're our best agents right now, and you work well as a team."

CyA pipes in, "Alright, sir, but what's in it for us?"

"₩50M."

"For all four of us?"

"Each." The agents gasp, that's the most they've ever been paid. "But that's only if you can retrieve the device."

"Why would anyone want to take a device from us?"

"The technology we've been developing is very advanced. This device is our pride and joy, it scrambles scanners so our agents can go undetected. It's very important, if they can break down the coding, they could use it against us. We must retrieve it."

"Ok, so what's the plan?"

"I'm glad you asked," the man throws four envelopes on the table for each agent. "CyA will sneak in through the vents system and disable the security so Rin can slip in. He'll take out any enemies and provide a distraction so Woong can enter and retrieve the device. Xion will be the guide, he'll set up camp nearby and provide lookout and directions. Once the device is secured, retreat immediately, but leave no witnesses; wipe any security footage."

"When's the mission?"

"Tomorrow night, be here around 9pm."

Dongju arrives at the office promptly at 8:50pm. There's a note on his desk ordering him to report to the basement. He catches an elevator with Woong down to the basement.

"Hey, Xion."

"Good evening."

"Why do you think the director wants this device so bad? Shouldn't they have the blueprints saved in the system?"

"He probably worried about getting hacked and didn't store them."

"Maybe...this just sounds like a pretty interesting mission to me."

"I'd say so, I've never been on a field mission. I'm always holed up at my desk being a guide."

"My best advice is to stay alert, you wouldn't want anyone ambushing you."

The elevator pings, announcing its arrival to the basement. Woong and Dongju step off and spot Rin and CyA already getting dressed.

Rin waves at them, "What took you so long?"

Woong walks in front of Dongju, "Oh nothing. We're early anyway."

CyA tosses Woong a com, "Director left gear for us." CyA gestures to the table, "There's a lot to pick from."

Dongju follows behind Woong to get to there. He looks at the table where a range of gear is. Anything from walkie-talkies to assault rifles. Dongju reaches for the least intimidating weapon: pepper spray. Woong cocks a brow at Dongju while he straps two handguns to his thighs. Dongju shrugs back, he's really not used to handling weapons.
