Ugh storytime smh:

I've been watching "I Shall Debut" season 2 (cause it has subs) for the past few days. I was watching it in my room on my phone, but today I got up early and went downstairs to watch it on the big tv. A few minutes in, my dad came down and sat on the couch. I'm always reluctant to watch non-American programs with my dad cause he's an ignorant white man, but I really wanted to finish the episode. So I just kept watching it. Unfortunately, it was when the acoustic team was practicing "Versace on the Floor" and the dongdong twins were practicing the "Versace" part. My dad just started complaining that their pronunciation was wrong and it really ticked me off. Like, sorry Korean dudes can't pronounce non-Korean words correctly? Would you like to fly over there and tell them? I'd like to see you try to do what they do. Do I ever correct your pronunciation of Asian words? No, so shut up.

The stage was really good too, but I couldn't enjoy it cause my dad kept complaining. Now I'm not even in the mood to watch it that much. I guess I'll rage for a bit and rewatch the stage >:(. Youngjo, bby, plz help me :((.

Anyway, now I'm super ticked off and ended up leaving after that because of how irritated I was. Now I'm >:( in my bed and tryna not rage cause I really hate how ignorant my dad is. Every time I tell him he needs to stop, he never does anything. Like we once were trying to find a Japanese restaurant and when we walked in my dad said, "This must be it cause there's a lot of Asians here." And he also pointed to a girl when we were in the school parking lot and told me she looked like a hobo carrying a cardboard trifold around. It was literally a project and that's very offensive. What if she really is homeless? Or was? That's really insensitive to say. There's some things you just don't say out loud.

So yeah, sometimes it's hard having an insensitive, inconsiderate, ignorant white man as a dad, but I know it's not entirely his fault. Part of it is how he was raised. But, that doesn't mean he has a free pass. He should work on it, too. In fact, he should be more determined to be more open-minded.

Disclaimer: I'm Asian, but adopted by white parents, my brother too.
