Saving The Day

We've completed the first game of 3 of this She Believes Cup. We have approximately 3 months or so until we start the World Cup. I can already feel the pressure. We're reigning champions.

We're currently in recovery. I'm with our goalkeeper Coach. Ash, Alyssa and I have to do recovery separate from the rest of the team. We have different recovery drills. Even though Ash and Alyssa didn't play, they still like to do this. We have to work on our ab core and work on diving drills so that our body regains the strength of diving.

"We're playing England next, they've been playing good so far." Alyssa tells us as we kick the ball to each other, to catch. We just beat Japan. Ashlyn is working on her diving with coach.

"It'll be a good game. They've got good players but I think we got this" I tell her as I wipe my face with the bottom of my shirt. One of our photographers took a picture of me lifting my shirt up revealing my abs.

"Do you mind sending that to me? I want to post it" I ask her. She nods and goes on her phone. Probably to send me the picture. After our recovery drill, I get dressed for my a video I'll be doing. I'll be heading to a studio for it. I'll be taking the rental car with me.

"Let's get you mic'd up now" a guy I don't know tells me and they start putting the wire in my shirt and the small microphone on the collar of my shirt. They do a few touch ups on my face and they adjust the lights.

"Okay, and go!" One of the camera man said.

"Hi my names Holland Reed, I am the #1 goal keeper for the US Womens National team" I say to the camera. They don't stop for a retake.

"Here to tell you 5 things you don't know about me!" I tell the camera enthusiastically.

"#1 I was born in Harbor Springs, Michigan, and I was raised there until the age of 8. We moved to the the Sheffield, in England and we moved back to Michigan when I was 14." I tell them. Which is why I have a bit of slight english accent.

"#2 I took French and Spanish in High School for 4 years. Mon équipe est meilleure ("My team is better" in French) que el tuyo ("than yours" in spanish)" I had tutors and I went to a private school. Can you blame me?

"#3 I love American Muscle Cars. I attend car shows down in Orlando when I am there. My favorite cars is the Superbird 1970 and Plymouth Barracuda." I have an apartment in Orlando right now since I played for the Pride. A lot of modified cars there, but nothing beats American Muscle. I would have one of my own but because I travel a lot, I would have to get rid of it eventually. Wouldn't put myself through that.

"#4 I've actually cage dived with great white sharks before."

"Were you scared?" The cameraman asked me curiously.

"Ha uh a little, I remember I had watched 47 Meters Down with Alex and I told her I wouldn't ever do something like that. A year a later I swam with sharks. I asked her to come with me but she didn't want to. I'm sure the movie had scared her of it" I tell the cameraman. It was an experience, in the same vacation, I had also saw Whale Sharks. It was a good getaway.

"#5 I'm a bit of a adventurous person, and I enjoy Air boats. I've driven down to Miami a couple of times to go air boating and during the ride. Sometimes they stop the boat and there could be an alligator next to you. You have to be careful though because they do bite. So don't recommend putting your hand out out of the boat. They also stop by a small sanctuary with alligators. Its pretty cool." I tell the camera. They throw me a ball and I catch it

"That's a wrap!" I tell the camera smiling and they stop recording. They help me take off the wires and the mic. They thank me for coming in and they tell me how great I did. I stay and chat with them for a little while. I head back to the hotel eventually.

I post the picture of me lifting my shirt up to wipe my face. The picture immediately gets comments

I liked her comment and started to follow her. I didn't even know she followed me. I know who she is, I never met her though other then shaking her hand and telling her good game. Alex comes into the room

"So Lucy huh" she jumps into my bed next to me and nudges my elbow.

"It was just one comment Alex, plus we don't know each other" I tell her scrolling through my feed. She scoffs

"Do you find her attractive?" She asks me with a curious face, smirking at me.

"I mean how is she not attractive" I tell her shrugging and she gives off a girly shriek

"You gotta meet her, wait.. hey we play her on the 2nd! You have to talk to her" Alex tells me as she excitedly taps my arm.

"Al she's our opponent, I can't let her distract me" I tell Alex and she smirks at me with an eyebrow up

"So she can be a distraction huh?" She tells me smirking at me and nudging my arm. I playfully push her away

"Ain't gonna happen" I tell her. She scoffs playfully and she goes to her bed. I don't mean to stalk but I pull up Lucy's Instagram. I don't know what it is but she's so attractive and not just her looks but the way she looks like she carries herself. Her style is clean, I like it. Alex walks over to turn off the lamp

"Are you checking her Instagram? Cute right? Go for it!" She tells me as she grabs my phone and looks at Lucy's pictures. She's not wrong, she's cute and hot.

"I don't know Alex, she's from England. She'll be far for me and you know I hate long distance. Last time I tried that, didn't end well." I tell her. I would like to talk to Lucy, but we both live in different worlds. She's in England and I'm here. Plus the World Cups coming around and I mean who knows who will win. I don't want each others success to be a problem. I don't even know her. Am I thinking to much into it?

"I mean you can see her, you literally travel to England to see your grandparents at least every few months. What if she gets signed over here, or you get signed overseas" she tells me being hopeful. I do visit England often but it won't be the same if it's for a few days and every other month or so. I want some constant with me, and I'm sure she would agree also. I also could signed overseas but I haven't been told anything about it.

"Should I message her?" I ask Alex, who gives me a big smile and excitedly taps my arm

"Yes!" She tells me. Ugh but what do I say to her? I mean what if she leaves me on read. Do I say hi? I'm not smooth.

"What do I say?" I ask Alex. She nods and grabs my phone. I look over her shoulder to see what she's doing.

Me: When are you getting here? we should total hang out when possible!

And she sends it.

"How's that's sound?" She asks me returning my phone back. I mean will she open it?

"Will it be effective?" I ask her as I look through my picture comments and people are starting to ship us. It's only one comment, it can't mean anything.

"It will be, you'll see" she tells me going back to her bed. I nod and I put my phone to charge. We'll be going to eat soon with some of the gals. We have yet to get ready. It's a small dinner for my birthday.
