Wilbert and I decided to head out to the park to visit Rachel and Jess. Wilbert radioed in that Corey, Steve, David, and Marcus were all going to be present in the park and that they conjured an idea. Although Wilbert and I had to go to church, so I can wait in the late morning, early afternoon. Wilbert rode his bike while I held on behind him to the park to meet up. There they were, sitting on the playground, running around the structure that was present on the playground. Rachel was the first to notice us and walked towards us. Jess followed and so did Fiona.
"Hey guys." Rachel spoke up.
"Sho, vhats up?" I asked.
"Yeah. What about this "adventure" their planning?" Wilbert chimed in.
"Good question...I have no idea either. I was brought in to the mix." Jess replied. Corey appeared and spoke up.
"The plan for our little, more so of a big adventure, is that we want to head to those deep forests and there, way beyond, further from the neighborhood, is a big field full of tall grasses."
"They stretch out further and we haven't explored further outward." Simon added.
"Shounds interesting." I replied.
"Samantha, you finished the English homework right? I forgot to finish it." Rachel asked.
"Oh ja. I finished it. I can come over to jour housh sho ve can finish it." I explained. Rachel nodded in response.
"Welp, let's get a move on." Marcus spoke and we all followed, down into the forest and further down, there was a pathway. The trees were big, but, sunlight beamed down, turning the forest into a magical, golden fantasy forest. Three minutes later, there was a clearing in front of us and some of the guys ran for it, so I followed, jogging my way to see what the field looked like. It was just like what Corey said, it was vast and big, the long grass had a gold hue to it and the sky was ever so clear with pure white, bright clouds, trees that were far off, and it looked as if the fields stretched out miles away from the neighborhood. It was beautiful. I felt like I could live in the fields, perhaps build a small little cottage. I felt as if I could roam or run in the fields probably forever just by looking at it.
"It'sh beautiful." I muttered.
"Let's see if we can find anything around here."
"Like vhat."
"Treasure. There's a lot of stuff around that either people lost or threw it away. It's like a dumping ground here."
"Samantha and I will scavenge the west side."
"I'll go too." Rachel responds and we went towards a small river bank and right away found interesting items like bottles, lost dolls and other vintage items. I opened my bag and gathered some of the soda bottles, mini angel statues, and oysters which Wilbert told me that inside were pearls with all sorts of pretty colors. While finding more and more oyster shells, Wilbert used his knife to cut and pry open the oyster and after some difficulties with the oyster, he finally got it open to reveal a bunch of pearls. I looked over as he peeled the inside to pick up a yellow pearl.
"Vow!! Sho that's vhere pearls came from." I exclaimed, my eyes glued on to the pearl and the other pearls that are still in the flesh.
"Let me guess, your father never told you where pearls came from?" Rachel asked of me. I nodded and shrugged.
"Vell, I never veally cared about iz origin, but just like the necklace on other vomen's necks." I spoke.
"Well, that's almost comforting a little. Be kinda better if he would tell you, but I'm not dumping you father too much as I would be to your uncle." Rachel complied. I chuckled.
"Ja." I responded and got back to work. I then found a bracelet that was buried in the rocks, and so, I pulled it out from the waters to reveal, colorful beads on a bracelet, which had a shell as the centerpiece of the bracelet.
"Ooh. Pretty." I murmured, putting the bracelet inside of my pocket. The whole treasure hunt went on for quite sometime before we had to go home. We all made our way out of the fields, when I spotted a vintage pale yellow jewelry box, with roses and a painting picture of two little angels. I picked it up and catch up with the others. Rachel decided to stay with me and Wilbert, also wanting to go to Sunday mass with us. As we made our way inside, we all went up into Wilbert's room and discussing what we not only just found but how far the fields go, mainly explaining them to me. I then revealed the box and I began to open it. Out of amazement, there were other vintage bracelets and vintage Catholic pictures of the Virgin Mary and Jesus, but what caught my eye was a necklace with tiny pearls that extended around, but each were separated and was in a pattern to little pearl to medium size. The length was pretty long, but to where it stopped at the top of my stomach. The focal point of the necklace was a round large crystal. The necklace looked somewhat new for some reason but nevertheless, the crystal's brilliant sparkle of the crystal grabbed Wilbert and Rachel's attention and they all stared in awe.
"Woah! That's beautiful!"
"Ja, no kidding." I whispered still in awe, staring at the crystal and the rest of the necklace.
"You should try it on." Wilbert suggested, and with no hesitation, I placed the necklace over my head and to my neck where it rested on me. I suddenly felt really warm and almost tingling in a good way.
"That looks amazing." Wilbert commented.
"Ja. I feel nice vith this." I muttered.
"You should wear it to church." Rachel implies.
"Zhat vhat I vas thinking." I spoke nodding my head. I remembered now that we were going to church. So I took a shower and got dressed. About an hour later, Wilbert's mother drove us to the chapel and we all head inside, tapping the holy water and making a sign of the cross while we kept walking to find a seat. We manage to get to the front and sat down. Mass started four minutes later and we did the usually singing, reading, more singing, more reading, then later even more singing, eating and drinking then priest starts talking telling everyone have a good day and finally more singing. I've gotten used to it, but sometimes I get bored. After, me and Wilbert decided to walk towards the fields alone. I figured we'd bring along Rachel or Jess.
"You're hungry yet, Sam?" Wilbert asked. I yawned, responding.
"Not yet. Surprisingly, I'm shtill full from breakfast."
"But you had like two pieces of bread." Wilbert queered, cocked an eyebrow.
"I know, but shtill. Vhat do jou think if ve should invite Rachel and Jess?" I contemplated.
"I don't know. Rachel's busy with her parent and family, and Jess is probably in Raleigh shopping." Wilbert explained.
"Oh. Vell, I guessh ve can go alone." I shrugged.
"After lunch. I'm starving." Wilbert insisted.
"Vell, I can at least eat something just sho jou don't haf to eat alone." I implied.
"Alright." Wilbert spoke and we began collecting items in the fields, then farting towards home to eat. While eating, I began to look at my necklace. I felt like I've seen it before. Long ago. I don't know when or where, but I feel like this belongs to me.
"That necklace. You think it could've been some rich lady?" Wilbert questioned.
"I don't know. For shome veason, I feel like zhis is mine."
"Yours? Well, that makes sense, but before you had it, it could've belonged to someone else."p
"Hm. I don't know." I replied. I didn't want to say anymore as I would've been confusing. After lunch, we head upstairs to finish our homework. For some time later, I looked at my necklace as if it's the only thing I've been looking at throughout the day. After I finished with math, I figured I'd get some rest. So, I sat on Wilbert's bed, while Wilbert stayed on the floor, still working on his homework. I smiled at the prospect of our friendship. It became something almost even more of a friendship. More like brother and sister. I don't know why, but something about it just made me not only smile, but made me feel at peace. I got comfortable and my eyes grew heavy, since the atmosphere in his room was beautiful and also clean and tidy, especially the lighting in the room. My eyes droop and I was now in complete darkness.

I then awoke to the sound of argument downstairs. I figured it be the parents, but as I looked to find Wilbert, I realize he wasn't there. My heart sank, my eyes widen, and heart started to kicked in and so I flew the covers and ran downstairs. Thoughts ran into my head as I began to wonder if something terrible happened to Wilbert or was he in trouble. As I came downstairs, I was presented with the sight of Wilbert's mother and Wilbert himself. I was transcended, feeling all too confused and surprised as I never seen them fought back and fourth.
"Vhats...going on?" I mumered.
"I see your friend is awake. Mind telling me why you in my son's room?" She questions me, with a sharp tone as her eyes pierced into mine. I gulp as I knew what this was about. I began to feel like I was shrinking and my face flushed as I had no words to explain.
"Mom, don't talk to her like that!" Wilbert retorted.
"I am you mother! And your friend has no right to live in our house. As soon as I get word of your parents, I'll have no-"
"I don't haf any parents!" I cried. Breaking the tension in the room and it now grew silent.
"She's right mom! We-I...I saw her lying on the ground and-and I didn't want to leave her there so-I just-I had to help her!" Wilbert explained.
"I haf no vhere to go and I jusht left...I...my parvents died and I felt like I didn't know vhere to go from zhere. Listen I'm shorry zhat I shtayed her for two months or so...and if it make you any better, I'll leave and find an orphanage to shtay until I find new parents." I proposed. I knew this wasn't a good idea as what if I actually went there till I get adopted by some other family. I don't want to leave Wilbert. Or Rachel, Jess, Fiona, Corey, or the gang. There all family to me, and I don't want to meet new people and having to start all over again. Wilbert places both his hands on my shoulders.
"Don't you say that, Sam. Mother, please, let's keep her here. She likes staying here and she likes the people here. Please don't let her leave. I saved her and...we've grown so close. Please mom." Wilbert pleaded with his mother. I could hear a hint of pain in his voice and I chokes me up, having to hear him speak, to plead with his mother. I looked into his mother's eyes with no words to be added. She gave one good look into my eyes and sight.
"Wilbert...why didn't you tell me this-"
"You wouldn't understand! She lived in another country and I wasn't sure if you really trusted anyone outside our country, aside from England. Mom...I'm sorry. I was scared that you wouldn't understand me or her."
"Wilbert, sweetie. Of course I would understand." She sighs again.
"Okay. She can stay, but I'll have to get in depth with her records and her side of the family. Do you have any grandparents or any other relations with your side of the family?"
"No. I don't." I lied. The more lies we cover the truth, the more heartbreak she'll become when she knows the real truth. I knew she would disown me, but, I didn't have a choice.
"Well, I'll see what I can do, but for now she can stay. Samantha I'm sorry about all of this."
"Nein, it's okay. I'm shorry. I should've told jou the truth. I shuppose jou knew all along?"
"The scent of Wilbert's covers gave it away. I figured you'd be staying in his room longer, but I wasn't sure how to approach the situation." She explained. She stood up and went up the stairs.
"Wilbert, will you and Samantha help me with the groceries. Samantha I figured you know your way around the grocery store."
"I haf it all memorized."
"Thank you. Both of you. Make sure you get back by dark."
"We will, mom." Wilbert spoke, grabbing my hand and walked out the door.
"Sho...vhy did you stand up for me? Veally, caush jou know I'm in a different dimension, and I shtill don't forgive meinself for even committing such hanues crimes." I questioned. Wilbert then looked up with the light reflecting his glasses, then revealing his sparkling eyes and his brightest smile.
"Because, your my sister." He mummers. My heart sank tears welled up and I embraced him. I realized that we had stopped walking and so we continued to walk with a smile on my face and Wilbert's hand still place into mine, as he guided me towards our destination. I realize now that I belong to someone who care about me. Even though I still don't forgive myself, the love from my friends and Wilbert is all o ever need in my state of being.
