Carlos was getting... distracted. It's not like he wasn't having a good time; in fact, this had been his favorite date so far. It was just that Cecil was on top of him. He was lying on a couch, curled beneath a blanket with his boyfriend in his arms. How could his thoughts not start to wander? Whatever movie was playing on the TV had long been forgotten. Instead, Carlos's attention was focused on the blonde resting against his chest. If not for the slow movement of his tattoos across his pale arms, Carlos would've thought Cecil was asleep. His eyes were just barely open and his breathing was slow, the rise and fall of his chest perfectly in time with Carlos's heartbeat. Both of his hands were draped lazily across the scientist's waist, his fingertips brushing bare skin. "Cecil?" The radio host looked up at Carlos and yawned. "Mmmhhmm...?" "Are you even watching this anymore?" Still yawning, Cecil shook his head. "Mmm... Not really..." Carlos curled one hand around his boyfriend's neck. "Good. Neither am I." Their lips met. The kiss was slow at first, not meant to start anything more. Cecil's hands curled around the scientist's shoulders, his long fingers tangling in thick brown hair. Just as they were about to break apart, Carlos accidentally bit down on Cecil's lower lip. The radio host squeaked and Carlos's tongue slipped into his mouth by mistake. His eyes widened, and then closed as Cecil's tongue tangled around his own. Carlos's heartbeat sped up, beating hard enough that he thought Cecil might be able to hear it. They had been on six dates so far, none of them ending in intimacy. If he did things right, didn't rush this, this night might be different. Carlos sat up, straddling Cecil against the arm of the couch. The radio host whimpered as Carlos's hands slid beneath his shirt, tracing violet lines of ink. "C-Carlos.." His normally deep voice was small and breathy, catching in his throat as Carlos ran his thumb over one of his nipples. "C-Carlos!" Carlos froze. Cecil's voice trembled, not with arousal, but with panic. He backed away as quickly as he could, horrified to find that his boyfriend was shaking, tears glimmering in his eyes. "Carlos... I- I'm sorry, I didn't mean... I just..." He buried his face in his hands. The scientist didn't know what to do. He wanted to console his obviously distressed partner, but he didn't want to touch him, afraid of what his reaction might be. Way to screw things up again Carlos! You couldn't wait could you? Couldn't wait until he was ready? Always thinking about yourself... "Cecil... I- I'm sorry... I didn't mean to rush things... We don't have to- you know- I mean, not if you don't want to..." Cecil was silent for a long moment. One violet eye peeked between his fingers. "It's not that I don't want to... It's just that I've never- actually... I'm... I'm still a virgin!" He ducked his head, as if Carlos was going to hit him after hearing his confession. The scientist was quiet, biting the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. A virgin? That was it? When he had heard the fear in Cecil's voice, he had expected the worst. Maybe his boyfriend had been abused in a past relationship, maybe he was breaking some obscure Night Vale law, maybe Cecil was asexual... but a virgin? That had been the last thing on his mind. "Cec..." He spoke slowly, still trying to keep the laughter from his voice. "You've never had sex... so what?" Cecil looked up. "You mean you aren't going to leave?" "Cecil, this is my apartment. Where else would I go?" The radio host flushed deeply. "You- you know what I mean. Carlos... I'm twenty-seven! I'm pathetic!" Carlos took both of Cecil's hands in his own. "It's not pathetic! Now you have no one to compare me to!" Cecil laughed, his tears already gone. "Now. How about we try this again?"
