CHAPTER 26

[Aditi]
After breakfast we headed to the college. As soon as we entered the college, Darshan's friends surrounded us. I hated socialising so i never wished to make much friends. I kept staring at him as he was busy with his 'group of friends '. At last without uttering a work, I went away silently. I think he didn't notice me.... Well I am used to it now. Being unnoticed is a common thing for me. I was nearing the class when I heard heavy footsteps and panting breath. I turned around to find Darshan panting heavily. "Darsh---", I was about to say something while he cut me off, "I didn't come to u and u walked away?? ". "Then what shall I do?? I don't like people around me and sometimes I need to be selfish too.. ", I said and he laughed, "Selfish and you?? ", he said in between his laughs. "Yeah.. Y?? ", I asked with a question mark on my face. "Have u ever been selfish? I can't imagine u to be selfish ", he said and it brought shivers down my spine along with the memory of that night. That night which changed everything. That night which made me like this. Memories flashed before me. I was lost in my thoughts when I heard him, "What happened Adi? ". "No.. Nothing ", I lied. I wanted to scream my lungs out and say the truth before the world but it was impossible for me to do so. "Let's go", he said and evoked me out of my thoughts. "Yeah", I said and nodded. While sitting he said, "Adi... I know we have met a few days before and... U may not trust me much with ur secrets but if you have any kind of secret u want to share.. Please go ahead". His words touched me. For the first time I felt reliable. For the first time I felt like I too had a place on this earth. For the first time I felt I wasn't the loneliest person in the world. But I was afraid of these feelings. I wanted to shake them off my shoulders.....but I couldn't. "Darshan... I have something very important to say to u... Can we meet at night at Mike's place? ", I asked without giving it a second thought. He was about to say something when I stopped him and said, "Please don't ask why, what, where, how etc... ". "No.. Not that.. But what's it about? ", he asked. "My past", I said hanging my head down and in a low voice. He seemed somewhat relieved as if he was eagerly waiting for it.

I don't know why I was so much interested in her but finally she was about to say something which I was searching about. We were talking about it and were so involved in it that we didn't notice that the lecturer had come inside and had started teaching. After a while I received a small piece of flying chalk. "Mr. Raval and Miss Verma what r u talking about which is more important than this class? Please if u don't wish to then get out of the class. ", he said and to my surprise even without uttering a word Aditi was walking away whereas I followed her trails. "U had a bad name earlier and now u r spoiling him too.. ", I heard him say but she didn't stop. While I pinned myself to the wall Aditi seemed to think something. "Darsh... Please call me before 20 mins the class gets over", she said. "Arre... But.. We r punished.. Where are you going? ", I asked confused. "Don't ask anything.. Just do as I said", she said. "Hello!! R u ordering me? ", I asked. "If u don't wanna do it then just say it.. ", she snapped. "OK I am not gonna do it", I also snapped huffing and she just went away. She didn't come back for the next 20 minutes. I was hell worried now. I decided to call her up. As soon as she picked up the call she said, "I knew u would do it.. ". "How come??? ", I asked her. "I can.. I have some special power.. ",she said. "K.. Come back my magician before the class gets over ", I said. She was back in the next 10 minutes. She wanted heavily. "Where were you? ", I asked. "Don't ask", she said still panting. I saw a red colour box in her pocket. "What's that? ", I asked. "Nothing", she said as she hid it. I didn't ask much. Just then the class got over and we were in. After college, I saw Rajesh. He came near Aditi and asked, "Have u bought it? ". She nodded in a yes and handed over the red velvet box. I was stunned to see it. It was a ring with a 'S' on it. "I hope she likes it!", he exclaimed. "She will", Aditi assured him. After that he went away. "What is he gonna do with that? ", I asked her. "He is going to propose Swikruti ", she said monotonously. I exclaimed with joy, "What!! Really?! So nice.. True love". She hummed lowly. She was looking nervous. I don't know why but I feel that it's because of me.. Or is it because she is going to let out something which she hasn't said to anyone else?? Questions arouse in me but I kept convincing myself that I would get my answers soon......
