With each passing second the anxiety in me built up. I was continuously thinking of what Aditi will do and What Prakriti did.

Why did she do this? She should have said if anything was wrong before taking this drastic step.

A knock on my door.

I was to be headed down for the marriage.

With the heart loaded with grief, I stepped down. I went to the Mandap and sat there. Anxious eyes searching here and there.

Finally, she came too. My face was devoid of all emotions. But when I saw her, all the emotions in me jumped up. Her eyes were dark. She was looking stunning in her red lehenga. The ornaments complementing her looks.

As soon as she came near me, my heart leaped in an unknown excitement.

She said that she would do something.... And here she was marrying me?

We were performing all the rituals. I don't know why... I was feeling happy for having her by my side.

When the time for 'sindur daan' came, I was excited.

Just at the moment came to put sindur on her forehead, we were interrupted by the entrance of police.

Police?

I looked at her. Her face covered with dork emotions. This is what she had planned?

"Who is Aditi here?", the lady inspector asked. "Yes ma'am...", she responded. "U r under arrest!", she announced. "Why?", she asked. "U had a fight with some boys last night?", she asked. "Yes ma'am..", she said. "One of them has died and u r accused of murder!", she again said. "But I didn't know that he will die...", she protested.

Protest and conviction went on for long. I was looking around in confusion. At last, she was arrested. She came to me and whispered in my ears, "Take your time ...".

My face loosened.

The wedding was ruined!

The whole night I couldn't sleep. I kept on thinking of whatever had happened today. My whole life turned upside down in a single day... In a single moment.

"Beta... Won't u sleep?", my mom asked me. I looked at the clock which struck a perfect 2.30 AM.

"No.. Ma... I ain't feeling sleepy!", I replied. She came to me and caressed my hair.  "I understand how u r feeling... It is not a easy thing to bear all this shocks at a time..", she consoled me.

Deep buried tears made their way to my eyes. I buried my head in her lap and wept. The whole Tim she kept on caressing me and kept on motivating me.

I guess I fell asleep and when I woke up the sun rays were kissing me.

As soon as I woke up, I went to the police station. I wanted to know about her. "Are... Sir.. Aditi naam Ki koi ladki arrested nhi h..", he said.
