PHOEBE POV:
Two weeks went by, and I had successfully maintained my distance from Federick. Emails as our only form of communication, we stayed in our respective offices and only came in contact with each other during meetings.
The tension between us, however, only kept increasing. We had reached the point where it was even transparent in our emails. However, I eventually had to suck it up and conduct a private interaction with Federick, concerning the pivotal project we were presenting in tomorrow's meeting with Alpha Company.
Not bothering to knock, I walked in his office and effectively scare the life out of him. Swallowing my chuckle and reminding myself to maintain distance and a straight face, "I apologize for scaring and disturbing you, Mr Archer but we need to complete the preparation for tomorrow's presentation."
Looking up at me, Federick leaned back on his chair and crossed his arms over his chest. "I didn't get scared, just startled, since I thought we were still playing the 'let's ignore each other' game. So don't worry about it or tomorrow's meeting. I had to start compiling all needed data for the entire presentation on my own since you haven't been of much help for the past month. Nor has your useless assistant. All she does is ogle at me and spread her legs around." With a look of disgust on his face, Federick commented without humour.
Repressing my laughter at how the mere presence of my current assistant irks Federick, I quickly revisited my decision of replacing her with Nadiya. The idea of keeping her slut-ass here for my amusement and torture weapon against Federick was tempting but not advantageous in the long term. Not with the considerable growth of the company and my future need of several leaves of absence.
Restraining myself from telling Federick he shouldn't have fucked my current assistant in the first place, "It seems you got everything handled, and I am not needed. I'll see you at the meeting tomorrow then." Turning on my back, "A plus for me. I get to spend less time in your presence." I mumbled under my breath.
"What are you whispering?"
"Nothing you should know of." Tightening his lips, Federick scowled at my departing figure.
"Where do you think you are going, Miss? Your job is not over yet. You still need to work on finishing the presentation with me."
Scowling at him, I was tempted to smack his arrogant smirk off his beautifully annoying face. - Why was I even thinking his idiotic face was beautiful? What was wrong with me?
Detecting Federick standing up from his throne and advancing towards me, he once again got my full attention. Panicking, I instinctively shuffled a few steps back.
"You better stay where you are, Archer! I want you as far away from me as possible." Brushing off the momentary flash of hurt in his eyes, I viciously voiced.
Recomposing himself, I welcomed Federick's usual neutral, distant, aloof, sharp and cold glare, ready to slice me and the entire universe. "If you want us to work together, go back to your seat, and I'll take the one in front of you." My legs itching to get out of the room, I compelled myself to not run away and gave my order.
