Shrek wakes to a loud knock on his door.

Groaning, he checks the time on his iPhone 10R on his Gucci nightstand.

8:03.

He sighs and lifts himself out of bed. He walks to the door with a slow and even pace, and then opens it carefully.

"Donkeh?" he asks when he realizes who it was. "What do yeh want? It's been years since we broke up. Haven't you moved on?"

"Shrek, if I'm being honest, I don't know if I moved on, or if I can move on. I've been feeling so lonely lately and I need...someone."

Shrek stares at Donkey before answering.

"But you know I'm dating Gordon now. I've moved on, Donkeh, and you should, too."

"Shrek, please. Just let me in, Gordon doesn't have to know."

"I suppose he doesn't, but this better not be one of yer tricks, Donkeh."

"It's not, I swear."

Shrek sighs, and opens the door so that Donkey can enter. Donkey smiles, and kisses Shrek on the cheek before going inside.

"I like the new place. I don't think I've ever been in here before." Donkey says, walking around and admiring Shrek's house.

"You haven't. We broke up years ago, Donkeh."

Donkey cast Shrek a hurt glance.

"Well, since yer here, my room's that way." Shrek points to his room.

Donkey smiles, and takes Shrek's hand. He leads him to Shrek's room, and pushes the door shut. Donkey sits on Shrek's lap, and begins kissing him passionately. After a while, Shrek begins to feel guilty, and tries to push Donkey off, but Donkey is insistent in trying to kiss Shrek.

"That'll do, Donkeh. That'll do." he says.

Just then, the door creaks. Donkey ignores it, but Shrek looks over and his eyes widen at what he sees.

Gordon is standing there, staring at him, with a small silver ring in his hand.

Shrek quickly shoves Donkey away. "Gordon! I-it's not what it looks like!"

But Gordon already has tears in his eyes. "Shrek?" he squeak.

"Gordon? Don't cry. It's okay, I can explain, I can make things right if you let me."

Gordon drops the ring before Shrek can finish and dashes out of the house into the woods. Shrek gets up and walks over to where Gordon had been standing. He looks down at the ring. It's beautiful. It's silver with intricate engravings surrounding a sparkling diamond in the middle. Shrek slips the ring onto his finger, smiling as a single tear slides down his face.
