"What are you talking about?" Indra asked in her signature stern voice.
I looked over my shoulder at the full room of Wonkru warriors behind me, still chanting.
"Come on, we can't talk here." I pushed them away from the crowd to an empty room, even once I knew for sure we were alone I still had a hard time mustering up the courage to actually tell them.
"Ari, who's the other Nightblood?" Bellamy asked, placing his hands on his hips and tapping his foot.
I rubbed my hands together and sighed. "You can't get mad, okay."
"Just tell us who it is."
Taking a deep breath, I finally was able to let the words leave my mouth. "The other Nightblood is Caleb." The two in front of me paused for a second trying to process the information they had just heard.
Indra shook her head. "No that's impossible. I've trained with him for six years I would have known."
"It's true I swear."
Bellamy seemed to be in as much disbelief as Indra, "We knew that he had the blood of a Grounder but to be a Nightblood..." he trailed off trying to make sense of it in his head, "Ari are you sure?"
I nodded, trying my best not to make eye contact with him as I knew he was disappointed that I had kept this hidden for so long.
"How long have you known?" Bellamy asked crossing his arms.
I thought back to that moment in Polis when Caleb was being controlled by Alie and how he almost killed me. I squeezed my eyes shut not wanting to remember that moment with such detail.
"I've known since the fight with Alie." My voice was a whisper, hoping that they hadn't heard me correctly but of course they did.
"What?!" They said in unison.
"Ari how could you have kept that from us?" Bell asked uncorssing his arms.
"Do you understand the number of lives that were lost because we didn't have a Commander to lead us?" Indra was understandably mad, a lot of her people had died because Caleb and I refused to speak up.
"I'm sorry I never said anything but I had to keep it a secret, I couldn't let what happened to Lexa happen to him," I tried to explain.
Bellamy rubbed his forehead and let out a sigh, pacing slightly before turning back to me. "It doesn't matter now, do you think he would be willing to take the Flame?"
I hesitantly shook my head and shrugged. "I honestly don't know, but I figured we have to at least try."
Indra growled. "We don't have time for this. Miller is getting ready to march on that valley at any second with Caleb at his side. We need Madi, she would be willing to take the flame, it's in her blood." She walked passed me heading to the door.
"It's in Caleb's too," I protested but Indra refused to listen, continuing to walk out of the room to find her daughter who was the holder of the flame. I turned back to the freckled face in front of me. "Bellamy, she's 12," I pleaded with him.
I could see it in his face that he was trying to come up with any possible alternative to the plan or maybe he was trying to come up with an excuse for why this was okay. He didn't want to do this, he promised Clarke he would keep Madi safe. "I know, but Caleb's on their side, he could refuse the Flame and have us arrested and I can't take that chance."
"Just let me talk to him. I can get him to agree to it."
Bellamy shook his head. "I'm sorry Ari, but I can't take that risk we are running on borrowed time as it is."
