Every lead has been chased and left at a dead end; every thought has been played out and ended up with no solution. It's been over a month now and Jae has lost hope of ever finding Maggie. He's not sure where else to look or search.
He's been out of the hospital for a week now, and his sight has gotten stronger. He can now see shapes and colors but their still blurry. Cristal has been helping him out with reminding him of different colors and shapes. His leg is finally out of its brace and almost back to normal.
Mark has moved in with Jae and so has Cristal. Nether of them wanted to be alone after all this, and Jae didnt want to have an empty house just yet. They were all trying to move on, but this was something that would take more than a month to get over.
While staying together, Jae had been noticing how Mark and Cristal were trying to reconnect, and Jae felt that Mark was starting to become himself again. And yet, a hole is resting inside him where Maggie should be, and he found himself crying every night for her sake.
"How about we get away for a while?" Cristal announced.
Jae can see Mark's head turn to Cristal. "I wouldn't mind getting gone."
Despite himself, Jae laughed at Mark. "Where would we go?"
Cristal spoke up. "That cabin was in my name, and still is. We could go up there and spend some time away."
"Are you sure about that?" Mark asks. Jae can hear his concern.
"I'll be fine, and it's just for a few days. I'd like to take you two up there. What you think Jae?"
Jae sighed. He didn't feel like going anywhere, but there was no need to argue with them. "Whatever you want to do is fine."
~~*~~
Shame.
That's really the only thing she could feel. Everything else was numb. Her wrists ached from the bruises her bonds had left and her hope died several days ago with her fight.
She's in the bedroom of the cabin tightly secured to the bedpost. This had been her spot since he brought her here a month ago, or had it been longer? She couldn't remember because it felt like a life time ago.
Maggie felt like an abused animal with only a thin sheet covering her on a daily basis. Today she'll have a tinny break from Tim since he had to go back into town for more supplies.
The whole time she had been here, she had thought of nothing but Jae. She loved him, and she wished she could have admitted that to him before all this happened, but it's too late. She believed with everything in her that she would die here under the cruel hand of Tim.
The thought of death brought her mind to God. How could He have let this happen to her? Why had He let Tim come back into her life?
You did that.
Something inside her head said this, and she wasn't sure if it was herself or God.
"How did I let Tim back in my life?" She asked aloud.
You never let him leave. You've carried around your anger and bitterness toward Tim since the accident. You should have forgiven and gone on, but you kept your anger and left Me out of the situation. I can't help a situation I have nothing to do with.
Maggie felt her heart racing. It was all true and she knew it. Tears filled her eyes as guilt overwhelmed her heart.
"I'm so sorry, God. I've been trying to do things my way and I've messed up and gotten myself stuck. Please get me out of this."
