Distant memories

Ember sleply opened her tired eyes to see her best friend Dusk walking back with mort by her side. The okapi tilted her head slighy intreeged.

Finally she heard Dusks voice, "thank you for walking me home Mort.. you really didn't have to but I appreciate it." She blushed, pulling a strand of hair out from her gaze shyly.

"It's no problems! I'm homeless anyway so I just like to walk around st night!" Mort giggled.

"Well, goodnight Mort." Dusk smiled warmly, planting a quick kiss on Morts rosey cheek.
Mort then skipped away. Dusk giggled at that befor turning round to see Ember smirking at her from under the tree.
"Had fun I see?" She commented smugly.

Dusk flinched but ultimatly straighten herself up and replying, "as a matter of fact I did!".

She then squeezed and ran around in circles, "I'm in love Ember!! I think he's the one!!"

"The one? You've been on own date." Ember groaned, scratching a hoof on her forehead.

"I only need one date to know he's the perfect guy for me~ come on, surely you've felt something like this befor?" She asked with puppy eye.

Ember rolled her eyes at Dusks excitement. "No, duhh! Love doesn't just happen like that, Dusk."

"You sure? Surely there's gotta to be someone that gives you butterflies in your stomach and can make you blush like a rise!" She smirked at her blushing friend.

Ember was thinking about Melman. She hated the fact that she couldn't stop thinking about him but he was just so!! So!! Something!! Ember hesitated before frowning again at Dusks remarks, but it was too late for her stoic facade.

"There is someone, isn't there?" A now evilishly smirking meerkat prodded.
"Tell me who!!"

Ember gapsed and shit her ears back defensively, "no one!! I don't like anybody!!" He defended himself.

"Yes there is I saw that look!! Tel me!!" Dusk pleaded still smirkijg at her friend.

"There was no loook!! I don't have time for love!!!" She yelled getting visibly frustrated.

"Embers is love~" Dusk contineud to tease.

"No" ember screamed before running off into the savahna with her lanky legs.

Sudenly!!!

"Oof!!" Ember exclaimed as she ran into something big, warm and soft.

"Oh! Hello again." A familiar voice said confused like.

"M— melnam??" Ember said in a daze as she composed herself. "What are you doing out so late?" She asked

Melman laughed awkwardly, "I could say the same for you."

"W-Well I like darkness! But I'm not so sure about you?"  Ember argues.

Melman chuckled, "ah well, I needed some fresh air. I was arguing with someone and it got a little heated so I thought I would use this time to go out and look for herbs I can use for medicine."

"Argument?" Ember enquirer.

"Oh, yeah.. just an old friend of mine from New York.. we had a sort of 'fling' once but she ultimately ended up cheating on me with MotO mOto" melman said will a slightly angry voise.

"Oh.." ember mumbled taking in the infromation. Does that mean he's single? Ahhh!!! That doesn't matter Ember becuase you're not interested!!! Ùmú!! Ember thought to herself, making her blush. She coughed awkwardly and avoided melmans gaze, "that must of been.. hard.."
