Kenya's pov
————————————————————Its been a whole year
Since we've lived somewhere
The hotel.
It blew up due to humans just constantly fucking each other over.
We live in the forest, and the air is heavier and heavier every second, every breath harder and harder.
My baby.
She's a girl.
Her name is "Amelia"
I love her very much.
She's only a few months old.Me and Cynthia, we live in a forest, In a tent. We cook, we hunt what's left, we go on supply runs.
That's our life, and it been our life.
Until today.
I usually don't trust places that claim they have artificial oxygen. I don't. Because it always ends up like the last place, in bits and pieces.
But every time one of us has a coughing fit, we can't help but think about what fresh air would taste like.
And today was one of those
I woke up to the sound of excruciatingly heavy coughing. The sound of someone desperately trying to catch their breath.
I turned my head to see Amelia, gripping her tiny throat and coughing until she couldn't breathe.
And that's what happened.
I frantically woke up Cynthia, tears in my eyes,
"Cynthia! Cynthia! Somethings wrong with Amelia!!"
She blinked her eyes open, the grease on her face and the dirt caked on like foundation made it hard for anyone to wake up feeling enthusiastic.
I love her and I still do.
"What! WHAT!" She says angered.
And suddenly,
The coughs stopped.
It was too late
Amelia's tiny face, also caked with dirt and grease, it was now a small tint of purple.
She's gone.
I lost my baby.I can't even explain how I felt that day. It had felt like my whole world had sunk. Like I had nothing left to live for. I start sobbing, tears pouring out my eyes.
And then I stop.
This is it,
This is my life. So why cry, rather than embracing it.
