As I continued to sit and think under the willow tree I realized that class was about to start and I would most definitely be late. I stood up quickly and ran back to my lockers. It was about five minutes past the time I was supposed to be in class and I was thinking frantically that the school would email my parents telling them that I was late.

I stuffed my lunch into my locker and started jogging to class which was on the other side of school. I wasn't paying attention until I rammed into a solid chest.

Damnit

I knew immediately that it was Johnny's. No one else had a build like him. He wrapped his arms around me to help stable me from bumping into him. I carefully backed up. I was to tired to fight with him today.

"Are you okay?" His voice was deep and low. I wasn't expecting something nice to come from him. I was so taken aback that I was speechless.

I looked up into his eyes and saw something I've never seen in them before. Compassion.

"Yeah I'm fine." I said after finally gaining my voice.

I looked at the clock on the wall and mentally slapped myself. It was already way to late to be on time for class.

Johnny must have followed my gaze because he started to say, "It's fine. Mr. Dean probably forgot to take attendance."

I laughed because only Johnny would know. He skipped class so often I didn't get how he hadn't been expelled yet.

"You know..." Johnny continued, "you could come with me and skip the rest of class."

I thought he was joking but the serious look on his face told me differently. The weird thing is, I wanted to go with him or at least my heart did. My brain wanted to go to class because it knew the school would email my parents and it also knew what they would do to me.

Before I could even think, I blurted out, "Sure."

Johnny smiled and grabbed my hand, leading me to his black and silver motorcycle in the parking lot. My stomach started to do backflips. No way was I riding on that.

"It's super safe, just make sure you hang on to me." Johnny said as he handed me his helmet. He got on and motioned me to go behind him. I followed and got onto the bike. My hand were shaking as I wrapped them around his waist. I held on so tightly that I wondered if I was hurting him but he didn't say anything.

The engine roared and we were riding against the wind. It was so exhilarating how something so dangerous could be so fun. The wind whipped my face and I couldn't help but smile at how free I felt.

But I knew this feeling would dissipate as soon as I got home.
