Shadow Verse #1: Origins

Chapter 1: The beginning

It was quiet and dark in the forest. The trees were black and the leafs were purple. The grass was as gray as a storm cloud. There was no sign of life in the mysterious forest, except that of a boy. He was tall, about 5'9. He was 16 years old with purple eyes and black hair. "Hello!" Brennen called out, no one answered him. "Hello! Is anyone there" Brennen called out again, not getting any answer. Suddenly the wind picked up and the grass and the trees began to shake as a loud beeping sound rang out of nowhere. Brennen woke up from the dream he was having to the sound of his alarm clock. "Guess it was just a dream... It felt so real though." Brennen said. Brennen looked at the alarm clock and noticed the time on it was 6:20. "Crap! I need to get ready or I'm gonna be late for school!" Brennen said, noticing the time. Brennen got up and dressed in his usual outfit, Black jacket with a grey tank top and purple jeans and black sneakers, and then went to the living room to say goodbye to his parents Rachel and Thomas Dak. "Bye Mom and Dad see u after school."Brennen said happily. "Bye son" they both replied as he leaft the door. Brennen rushed down the street from his apartment, dodging numerous people as he rushes through the busy streets of Diamond City to his school, Diamond City High School. As he got to the parking lot of the school he saw his best friend Emily Moon and ran up to her. "Hey Emily, What's up" Brennen greeted her with a smile on his face. "Hey Brennen, nothing much" Emily replied to her best friend. As they entered the main hallway of the school they were greeted, well Emily was greeted seeing as how she was the daughter of the principal, by numerous students and staff alike. Brennen and Emily walked through the halls to their first class of the day. They walked together since they had the same exact schedule. As they entered their first class and took their seats they realized they were the first ones to get into the classroom. Slowly more and more students entered the class. Once all the students were in the Teacher started talking about physics. However Brennen wasn't paying attention since he was lost in thought, thinking about the dream he had that very morning and how it fealt wierd and real. This occured through practically all the classes up until the final bell rang for the day to end. As Brennen and Emily walked out of the school Brennen got an idea in his mind. "Hey Emily, do u wanna go to my parents lab with me, they have something new they discovered" Brennen said, his parents being scientists. "Sure I don't rly have anything else to do, my mom and dad r busy working so it would be nice to have some company"Emily replied. Brennen and Emily began walking to the lab which wasn't very far from the house. Suddenly Brennen heard a faint whisper. "Did u hear that? It sounded like someone said something" Brennen asked Emily who shakes her head at his question. 'It must have just been my imagination' Brennen thought as they continued walking to the lab together, the dream and the whisper still lingering in Brennen's mind as he and Emily walked together to the lab.
