Chapter eighteen

❱ I slowly closed the door making sure that I don't make any noise. As the door was about to close, my eyes landed on Caine who was peaceful sleeping. Caine and I have been talking since I made my way here which had been about hours ago. Though, my mind was occupied by Raine, about her revenge. I wanted to know why she wanted revenge, what made her hate Bruce so much?

As I was walking down the hospital's hallway, I couldn't help but think of all the possibilities. I was consumed by my thoughts that I didn't realize that I was already in front of her room. I didn't hesitate before knocking and in less than a second the door was pulled opened. I was met with dark brown eyes and a familiar face.

"Come in" the same familiar boy spoke and I finally remembered where I've seen him. I couldn't forget his voice, it was deep yet soft.

Once I was inside and met with Raine, I realized what was happening.

"You want your revenge with Bruce too, don't you?" I turn to ask Alec but he didn't need to say anything to know he wanted the same thing as Raine.

"So that's why you fixed an arrangement with me so you can get close to Bruce and the only way you had to do that is to go after me because I'm the closest thing he has, right?" I was now looking at Raine and Alec but they were both looking at each other with knowing looks.

"Exactly" Raine spoke this time, and I couldn't help but smirk when I realized what they trying to do.

"That's why you brought me here, because I'm the only person who can actually get to Bruce but if I don't want to be part of this, your guys are done." They both nodded.

"Sure, but you should also know that can't decline this or else-" I cut off Alec before he finish his sentence.

"Calm down, I want to do this, he has done so much shit to me. Now it's going to my turn to do the same thing back to him" I looked at both of them with a hate look but it wasn't towards them.

"Okay, now let me start from the beginning" Raine stood up from the hospital bed before sitting on the couch.

"Bruce killed my parents when I was sixteen, not much to say about that day but know that I was in the same room when he did his work. He was ruthless and cruel, but I couldn't do anything I was scared and weak. After that night, I've looked for him, tried to track him. I went to an extreme to even sell my self for information, it wasn't until I met Alec that I finally found a lead."

"We didn't realize we were both trying to find the same person. He has his own personal shit that he had going on in that time, but he still helped me. Next thing you know I'm here, and sitting next to my enemy's niece, though at that time I didn't know until Alexis told me something about Bruce Nightingale and that he had full custody of you." She had a smirk on here face, like she couldn't believe she found Bruce.

"What we're trying to do is bankrupt him, well at least that's my part. Raine has other plans, which involve you" Alec was now slowing walking towards me, as a way to imitate me.

"Which are?"

"Well of course to make him pay for what he did, I didn't come all this way to do something stupid" Raine stood up and opened the door from the room.

"I want you to think about it, come back when you're sure you want to do this." She leaned on the door while I stood still. I still had questions, like what kinds of things would I have to do for Raine or what was Alec's story to get his revenge or...

"What's in it for me?" I finally ask.

"You'll finally get to go back to your family" Raine said but I didn't say anything and just stood still, I wasn't sure what to think so instead of responding back to it, I asked something else.

"Is Carolina a part of this?" I looked at Alec trying to figure him out, trying to read him.

"No, and I would like it to keep it that way. I don't want her to know what I'm up to, she's innocent in all this." I nod, understanding his reasoning.

I look back at Raine, and I don't want to think about this, I know I want to be a part of this.

"Raine, I'm in, I don't need to think about it." I said as I walked up to Raine. She smirk in satisfaction and nodded. Before I walked out, I stopped and stood in front of her.

"Oh and why does Kace know about this?" I ask though I was afraid of what was going to be her response.

"He was there when Bruce killed my parents"
