"We both drowned
under the waves
of words
we weren't saying"

Chapter thirty-seven❱ My eyes were set on the phone sitting on the cup holder. As Alec was too busy driving I couldn't help but wonder who L actually was. All these questions can be easily answered by going through his phone. I just had to think of some way to distract him so I can go through it. And I had the perfect plan, but it required me to have some patience.
"I've just realized that I don't know anything about you." I say randomly as I look away from his phone and towards him. He lifted up his eyebrows before looking over at me for a second than looking back at the road.
"And I don't know anything about you. Though, I could care less" he said emotionless but all I do is roll my eyes. I didn't want to get to know him either but I didn't say that out loud and continued anyways.
"But I do care, we are engaged" I said, the word sounding foreign in my mouth. He glances at me again but this time his stare was long and curious.
"Engaged?" He said it out loud and hearing it from him sounded even weirder. I looked away from his eyes and nodded. From the corner of my eyes I've seen him look away from me too. For some reason I've felt uncomfortable when he looked at me like that.
"How about that date you promised me?" I ask after a while of silence. Even though I wasn't looking at him, I knew he had turned towards me. I almost felt his unwavering eyes burning into my skin.
I was surprised we still haven't crashed.
"Date? I'm sorry when did I ever promise you a date?" He asked defensively and that's when I looked back at him. He was trying to keep his eyes on the road but he was also trying to lock eyes with me. He decided to focus on the road and I sighed in relief. I couldn't possibly tell him this while he stared at me.
His stare was too intense.
"The date you promised me when you first met me." I responded back and soon his eyes bore into mine. He sighed before lifting up his lips, a smile brighten his face.
"We already had our date, I don't owe you anything else" I scoffed when I realized that he was talking about that date he had taken me to a club which had Raine in it.
"That one doesn't count, you took me to a club. I was looking forward to... I don't know, go watch a movie" I said back but all I wanted to do was shut up. I didn't expect him to take me to anywhere special but I was only doing this to steal his phone. I just had to lie a bit so he can give in.
"You really don't know me at all, if you did, you would know that I would never take someone to watch a movie, or even go on a date"
"That's my point, I don't know know you. For all I know you can be a murderer" it was supposed to be a joke but by the way Alec tensed up, I know that he didn't take it as a joke.
"It's settled then, pick me up on Friday night at eight o'clock sharp" I say as I look outside my window. I realize we are already in front of the school.
I don't give him a chance to argue back because before he could I was already out of the car and making my way towards the school.
When I finally was out of his view, I took a deep breath. I didn't realize how anxious I was when I was in there and it didn't hit me until now that I was actually afraid of him.
When I walked in Royal high, I wasn't impressed by the way everyone was talking about the latest news. They were all talking about Rory being arrested yesterday. Soon everyone shut their mouths when Rory appeared in the hallway. He walked along with Sterling. They walked these halls as they were Kings ruling their kingdom.
Rory didn't spare a glance at anyone around him but he did spare me one when he walked passed me. His blue eyes locked with mine and I couldn't help but envy him. It's a shame he's such an aloof bastard, because he has beautiful blue eyes.
As I was watching him, I haven't notice some other pair of eyes watching me until Rory's figured moved. Raine was standing in front of me with cold eyes and as people walked in between us I couldn't help but wonder if Rory has said anything to her.
Raine has her arms covered with a long sleeve, and she made sure she was covering her bruises with her hair.
And as I was staring at her, a sudden pang of guilt hit me.
What if Rory was the one who did it? What if she was a victim of domestic violence? What if I caused her more harm by telling Rory that she was the one who told the cops about this?
Without thinking about the consequences, I moved my legs and made my way towards her. When she noticed me coming closer towards her, she widen her eyes. Before I can even move through the crowd, she had already left.
She left me wondering and I couldn't help but look for the person who caused this.
I looked around the hallway, and when I finally found the person I wanted to talk to I made my way towards him. He was still walking with Sterling and when I finally stood behind him, I pushed him, hard.
He was taken back by it and he had gone forward a bit. Once he got a hold of himself, he turned around. When he finally found out who pushed him, his face grew cold. I've noticed his jaw clenched as well as his fist. For a second I've thought he was going to hit me and deliver my wish but he didn't.
The people who were around us stared at me with horror. Even sterling looked at me like I've gone mad.
"I'm so tired of you, of your presences. You act as if you are the king of this place. News flash, you're not. In fact your nothing but a pathetic boy that tries to hide his sad truth with cold stares and cruel remarks. You even go to a length where you hit women because you believe it'll make you look powerful but in reality it'll just make you look like a fucking coward." It was quiet which made my voice echo around the hallway. Everyone was so shocked to even speak a word. I've felt their gazes but my attention wasn't on them, it was on him.
I expected him to do something, anything. After all that was my plan, to get him to snap and show everyone who he was behind that mask. But nothing came, nothing.
Because before I knew it he had already left.
