It has been a month since Yuri and Yena back to their usual daily life. Yuri has started her plant shop in Japan with Yena helping her but also still being an underground fighter. She needed to earn more money after all those expenses she went through, especially after moving in to their brand new home. Starting a new life for them together in a new place, new environment, and other new things they have yet to discover.
Just like the old days, the two would go jog every weekend; coming to a forest to get some fresh air leaving the bustling city for a while. Beside the fact that it's healthy for them, it also gives them time to reflect and calming their mindset after the busy weekdays.
It was a calm but crisp morning as they walked under the treetops which created canopy over their head. Sun rays peeking through intoxicating green leaves, accompanied by the sound of rustling branches and harmonious chirping birds. Yena stopped her feet form walking, eyes sighting to a certain spot far away from where they were standing. She told Yuri to wait for her in a bit, leaving her alone and into the woods.
The blonde runs fast to the spot she has been looking at, climbing the path when it's uphill; jumping when she needs to. There was a certain tree and dark-skinned figs were seen, hanging freely on its twig. Yena slowed her pace, walking close to that tree. She picked one of the figs, peeling the thick skin and tasting the fresh fruit into her mouth. It has a gel texture with flavor of punch berry. "Mhm, this is fresh and tasty," she mumbled to herself while nodding, picking another two figs then going back.
On another side, Yuri was waiting for Yena patiently. Sheltered by the mighty trees, the brunette's eyes divert her gaze on the ground. She found out that one of her shoelaces has loosened without her realizing before. She kneeled to secure it but she felt a searing pain piercing her back in a flash, a quiet bullet cut across her skin and flesh out of nowhere. She screamed in full pain, startling the grand forest also the animals around.
Yena who was already close dropped the figs, frantically dashing over Yuri who still trying her best not to fall down on the ground. Yena rushed to the brunette's side immediately, grasping her body as deep red fluid oozed from Yuri's back. The pain Yuri felt causing her to close her eyes while blood painted Yena's trembling hand as she look at the wounded Yuri in horror. Yena then glance her eyes to the east, clean and sharp to a certain point that she got to see a sniper's gun still being aimed on them. Her eyes turned into crimson color, giving a ferocious look at the sniper who then hurriedly escaping the site. Yena gritted her teeth, her mind dwelling with the thought that she could try to chase and catch the sniper but that's not her priority right now.
Saving Yuri's life is her priority.
Because what's the point to live in a world without Jo Yuri. The person herself has become Yena's world.
Blood still dripping out from the lifeless Yuri's body, Yena quickly ripped a strip of her shirt; keeping pressure then tying it around the brunette's back to at least help to stop the bleeding. She can't feel her feet, her body shakes incoherently in panic, and her mind couldn't take the thought of losing Yuri at the moment. So without thinking much, Yena shifted herself then grabbed Yuri's neckline; revealing her bare shoulder. Her pupils were shaking, nervousness takes over her before she inhaled a deep breath and bit Yuri right in the shoulder.
Even if she was always against the idea of turning Yuri into lycanthrope, in the spur of moment it somehow terribly sounds a better idea than a world without her.
Yena has never turned anyone into a lycanthrope before, so she doesn't know how long it will take for her venom to work in Yuri's veins. One thing for sure is that Yuri was still lifeless in her arms, drifting out of consciousness. Yena carried her body, scrambling to get out from the woods as fast as she can; searching for hospital in the area.
Once they got into hospital, Yuri was immediately taken into surgery to take out the bullet she has within her body. Yena was allowed to wash herself from blood that seeped onto her skin before, then taken to the waiting area. But Yena couldn't stay her calm, she keep pacing back and forth as she blame herself for what happened to Yuri. So many what ifs came through her mind endlessly, especially the worst scenario that might happens. It felt like the stern hospital's white walls suddenly closing its gap, pressing Yena's existence from all the directions. The walls shifted in major upheaval form, punctured her body as anxiety sweep over her; eating her alive and devours all the positivity she had left in her.
Yuri was the sole reason Yena tried hard to discard her pitiful life and she was sure she doesn't want to go back to that kind of life anymore. But without Yuri, she began to feel unsure.
Please, please Yuri stay with me. I can't lose you again, I really can't!
Hours passed, finally the doctor got out from the surgery room; informing Yena that Yuri was very lucky because the bullet missed her vital artery even if it's just by a hair. The doctor also mentioned if the bullet were to cut through that artery then Yuri wouldn't have been survived. The information made Yena sigh in relief instantly.
The doctor said that Yuri's condition is still unconscious and very weak currently. It would take a while for her to gain consciousness but all that is fine. Yena could wait as long as it's needed to see Yuri being well and sound again.
Yena sat beside Yuri's hospital bed, holding the latter's hand through all the night. She couldn't sleep as she gazes at her lover peaceful face. Ever so often she would caress Yuri's cheek while whispering sweet words into her ears gently albeit not knowing if the latter could hear them or not.
Yuri has survived.
And that's all that matter to Yena right now.
A/N: Hey again guys, finally managed to write this quick update.
I honestly feel that it could be written better but at the same time I don't wanna be stuck in this chapter for too long. The story needs to go and move on anyway. So, hopefully it was an okay one for you all?
What do you think will happen to Yuri later after all that? Will she be awake way soon or way much later? Also who shot her and what's the purpose?
Find it out in the upcoming chapter(s) so stay tune!
