A week after being admitted, Yuri was still lying peacefully on the hospital's bed. Unconscious still. At this point, the hospital has become Yena's new home rather than her actual house over the past week. She waited patiently without skipping a day beside her loved one.
Yena would hold Yuri's hand during the night, rubbing her pale skin ever so gently with her thumb while adoring the girl who looks like just sleeping to her. So each night, before going to sleep Yena always planted an agonizingly chaste kiss on top of the brunette's hand and forehead; making sure the latter could feel her love even if her eyes were all shut tightly.
Memories of her and Yuri automatically replayed in her head. From the moment they just met, how they got closer slowly, and to even when they started living together. Yena missed her like crazy. She missed how Yuri would smile widely and laughs earnestly at her jokes. How Yuri would cling onto Yena's hand while they walk side by side. How Yuri's eyes would stare at her lovingly in between their kisses. How Yuri called her name in soothing voice during day and night. How Yuri would pouts her lips when Yena teased her. Or even how Yuri would bickers with her over something small like food. Yena yearned all those good times.
The brunette's sleeping figure looks so calm, tranquil, and fragile in Yena's eyes. So fragile that she wanted to protect her at all cost. If she could turn back the time, she would prevent all of this. It angered her so much, her rage was boiling up whenever she is reminded that someone just shot Yuri out of nowhere. Like who in the right mind shot innocent people in the forest? Yena swore to herself that if she ever catches the sniper in later future, she would rip the person's heart with her own hand. It's just unacceptable.
And unforgivable.
The next day, sunrays seeped through the white curtain into the room. Its warmth enveloped all over Yena's face whose was sleeping on the side of Yuri's bed. She opened one eye slowly, adjusting to the light before opening the other one. She straightened her body on her seat, yawning and stretching her arms since she felt stiff with the uncomfortable position for sleeping. As she yawn she got a glimpse of Yuri's finger moving a bit, something she thought it was just her imagination since she just woken up. But the brunette's finger moved again, causing Yena's eyes to widen up in short.
The blonde grabbed Yuri's palm in hers immediately, head facing the latter's face nervously. "Y-Yuri..? Can you hear me?"
"..." the brunette didn't respond with voice but her finger moved again in Yena's hand.
"You really can hear me, you just moved your finger to answer me, right?" the blonde asked out of her expectation.
"... mhmm," Yuri answered with a mumble this time around.
Yena heard it right, now all of her very being is filled with hopes that Yuri going to be awake that day. She put one of her hands on Yuri's cheek, waiting for the latter to finally open her eyes. The ticking clock was the only thing she could hear at that moment, the moment that she has been patiently waiting for over the week.
The brunette started to open her eyes, taking her time in a very slow motion. The vision were all blurry until it becomes clearer as her eyelids moving upward. Then the blonde came into her view with her hair down untidily. Yuri brought her other hand, gradually placing it onto Yena's hand which was still on her cheek.
"Ye...na....." Yuri hardly gathered her voice, forcing herself to form a sound out of her vocal cords, but she has to. She couldn't just stay silent and do nothing while Yena's tears were already swelled up and threatening to escape in any second.
The moment Yuri called her name in a faint voice finally break Yena's defense. She was fighting not to cry but the tear has escaped her eyes, rolling down her cheek before it dropped on Yuri's hand. The brunette gave a weary smile at the sight of Yena crying right in front of her. With every bit of energy she has in her body Yuri then seated herself on the bed, weakly pulling Yena by her neck into a hug which the latter hug back. Yena immediately snuggled her head into the crook of Yuri's neck, still trying to calm down with all the emotion she felt.
"I miss you so bad..." the blonde finally spoke up after few moments, letting out all of her emotions she feels in those simple words.
It might be just a simple sentence but for Yuri it was everything she needed to hear. Those words were very warm and home-welcoming in Yuri's heart. Knowing that Yena must have waited for her and suffered a lot by it, she strokes the blonde's back who was still crying on her neck, assuring that she is truly there.
Back and more alive than Yuri has ever been.
"How long I have been passing out?" the brunette queried, curious as how long she has been sleeping.
Still sniffling, Yena attempted to reply. "A week... and... a day..." she muttered then tightens her hold on Yuri's body.
Yuri's delicate hand pats Yena's mellow back compassionately. "I am here now, you don't need to worry anymore, okay? Also thank you for keeping me company and for loving me, I heard all what you said to me all this time," she whispered so tenderly. Truthfully Yuri thought all that was just a dream for her but once she sees Yena she realized that it's all reality and believe that what gave her strength.
They stayed like that before Yena pulled herself from the hug, informing the nurse that Yuri has gained her consciousness back. The doctor visited the room not long after, checking the brunette's condition and absolutely be shocked to the fact that she woke up much earlier than they anticipated her to be. They said it could take a month or more but instead Yuri being all better in less than two weeks. The doctor exclaimed it as a miracle.
Meanwhile Yena exclaimed it as the moment when Jo Yuri is no longer a human.
A/N: Hello guys! Finally we get to the point that Yuri has woke up and has turned into Yena's kind as well!
And no, it doesn't mean that this is the end of the story as things will go on and yet to be revealed later. ;)
Quick question: totally unrelated but I'm curious, do any of you follow ProduceX101? If you do, what do you think of the final line up? I'd like to say that I'm a casual fan of the show and quite satisfied with the lineup.
Anyway, thanks for reading this update and see you in next chapter!
