Chapter 7

I heard a chuckle while I began to wake up. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Brandon. I was wide awake by now and quickly swam up for air. "Brandon!!! What the heck?!?! How long were you there??!!!" I screamed.

"Don't worry I only got there like 5 minutes ago." He snickered some more.

I opened my mouth to say something until another thought came to mind. "Oh my gosh! I have to go!!" I swam back to the rocks and and crawled up,dragging my tail behind me. My tail finally dried up and as I ran towards my my house, I looks back to see Brandon with a sad expression on his face and waving.

The door to my house was unlocked so I ran inside. "Where were you?" I heard my mom question with an angry and worried tone.

"I was uhh just at Liam's house getting my text book" I replied.

"Hmm" she looked at me straight in the eyes with a questionable look, seeing if she could force the truth outa me but after awhile she gave up and nodded. "So what are you doing today?" She questioned.

"Nothing really I guess... I might go see Liam." I'm not kidding, we haven't hung out for a while.

"You were just there, though.... Well alright.. I'm going to go meet up with one of my old friends but I promise, if you'd like, we can go shopping tomorrow" she smiled then walked into the kitchen to grab her daily coffee.

With her in the kitchen, I grabbed my phone, slipped it in my back pocket then walked out the door while putting one of my old pair of flip flops on.

I knocked on the door and to my surprise, Liam's little sister, Sandy opened the door. "Hiya River!!!" She gave me a quick hug.

"Hey Sandy. Is your brothers here?" I greeted while returning the hug.

"Liam!!!!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. I saw Liam run to the door. "We need to talk" he grabbed my wrist and then dragged me to the beach.

We started walking along the shore with our shoes off and gathering sand between our toes but I didn't care because I had gotten used to it. "Who is Brandon? I have NEVER seem him around here!"

"Uh, yeah... Because he, uh, just moved here." I lied. I have been lying to so many people lately that my stomach was having a sharp pain of guilt.

"How does he know that you're a... You know" he stopped me, grabbed my arms and looks right into my eyes with a concerned face.

"He umm... saw me swimming one time. But don't worry about it" I told him and kept walking.

"River! How can you be sure he will keep it a secret?"

"because I trust him" I replied with a calm tone and straight face.

"You trust a guy you don't even know?" He asked again.

"Yeppers" I smiled.

"River do you wanna come-" I looked behind me and saw Brandon walking up to us.

"Oh uhh sorry" he apologized.

"Its fine" I replied.

"So this is the guy" Liam pointed to Brandon and looked at him with digust.

"Sure...? I also have a name..." I started to laugh a bit but Liam rolled his eyes.

"Ok uhh River and I are trying to talk so can you just wait right here" Liam then grabbed my hand and pulled me away.

"Uhh so umm...." He started and ran his hand through his shaggy hair while looks around. "I thought about it for a while and well I'm totally fine with you being a fish. So you wanna go get an ice cream or something?" Wow wow wow.. That was quick......?
