Mermaid Out of Water (EDITING)

Chapter 4

I quickly ran out the door to the beach. There were lots of teens playing beach ball volleyball and football. I ran down the beach to a spot where no one was found. I was literally itching to get in so I ran into the water and it was amazing.

What if Liam doesn't keep this secret? I sunk to the bottom and cuddled up in a ball. I started to sob in my hands. Then something tap on my shoulder so I turned around but nothing was there. I heard some kind of squeal so I looked around and a dolphin was trying to play with me.

I couldn't help but join him. I grabbed his fin and and he started zooming off. I had a blast. I wasn't sure where he was taking me but I didn't care.

He stopped about 5 minutes later as I went up for some air. I heard laughter and saw the group of teens again and this time they were in the water. I quickly dove under and swam farther and farther out to sea.

All of a sudden something grabbed my tail and pulled me under, all the way to the bottom of the sea. I screamed and turned around. I saw a guy. He had dirty blonde hair and,and a tail?? He then put a finger over his mouth telling me to be quiet.

I kicked him with my strong tail and swam towards the shore far away from the teens. I then dragged myself to the hot sand and lied there until my legs grow back. Who was that?? I then sat against a rock, closing my eyes.

"Hey" I heard someone's voice so I looked up and saw a guy. But this wasn't any ordinary guy it was the guy in the water. But this time he had legs and some clothes on. "Uhh" that's the only thing I said and I quickly ran. "Wait" he grabbed my wrist, making me stop.

"Who are you??" I asked while sitting down. "I'm Brandon" he replied. "Uhh I'm r-river" I told him. "So do you usually go swimming here?" He asked. I don't know what you're talking about"I lied. " you are that girl or should I say mermaid?" He smiled. "I don't believe in mermaids. And even if there were mermaids, I would definitely not be one. Now if you don't mind I have to go" I started walking towards my house but he kept following.

"How long have you been a mermaid?" He asked. "I'm not a stupid mermaid!!" I yelled at him and stomped to my house. "Yes you are, I saw you." "Leave me alone" I replied. "Only if you tell me how you became a mermaid and how long" and he grabbed my arm again. "Ugh fine but not here". "Perfect, let's go back to the beach" he said and pulled me to the beach.

"Now spill" he spat. "Why do you want to know?!" I asked. "Because. Now just tell me. I wouldn't tell a soul. Since well I'm a merman." He stared in my eyes. "I don't know,ok! I don't know how this happened to me. I've been like this for a couple days." " tell me everything" we sat down on the sand.

"Well the thing is, my mom would never let me go swimming in the ocean and well I did one day and my legs started to glow and the ends of my hair turned blue. Then I went swimming a couple other times and there were blue spots on my legs and the would always burn. Then yesterday me and my friend Liam went swimming and the next thing I now is that I have a tail. Happy now?" "Sure am. Hmm it's strange.

Maybe you have a family member that was a mermaid or merman. Tell me about your parents." Why was he so curios? I didn't even know this guy and he wanted to know so much about me. "My mom is a nurse and my dad ditched us" I answered.

"What about you? I know nothing about you" I told him. "Well my names Brandon. I'm 16 and well I've been a merman since I was 10." He replied. "So you really are a merman?" " well I have a tail, don't I?" He laughed. "I have to go" I said and started walking back to my house.

"Why were you crying??" Why can't he leave me alone. "Because my life is ruined!!" I screamed at him. "Being a merperson isn't that bad. Ya maybe whenever a drop of rain hits you, your tail grows. But still it's not that bad" ugh he just made it worse.

"Please just leave me alone." I said again. "Your gonna have to go back to the water sooner or later" he told me. "Ya whatever" I walked up to my door and opened it. "I'll see you later!" He said as he walked away.
