Hello Dolly was an amazing musical. I loved every single part. I was a bit unsure of if I wanted to go or not because it's kind of an old musical but then I saw it and I loved it.
I found out this one was coming when I was scrolling through Instagram and saw someone at a stage door with Jess LeProtto. I was over at my friends house so I immediately called my mom and was like 'Mom! Hello Dolly is coming and there are a bunch of newsies in it and it's going to be here in two weeks for two weeks and I really want to see it can we go please?' I talk at the speed of light you guys. So then I repeated it slower. And my mom was like 'if you get your late homework turned in we can go.' So I got all my late homework turned in.
My mom was going to get the tickets for a Saturday. I was really upset about that because it was supposed to rain and I didn't think we could stage door in the rain. But then she texted me a picture of the Theatre when I was in school and when I got home she was like 'We're going tomorrow night!' And I was super excited because it wasn't supposed to rain on Wednesday.
So I waited one painfully long day and finally it was Hello Dolly time. Oh I had also found out about five days ago that Garrett Hawe and Jess LeProtto has left at the tour stop right before ours. So I was sad about that but Julian DeGuzman and Nic Rouleau we're still in it. The group seeing this show was my mom, my grandma, and me.
We sat up in the second balcony which was actually not that bad. We had good seats and a good view. There were a lot of empty seats.
The show was really good and it was old fashioned-ish but I loved it. Nic Rouleau was an amazing actor and I love watching him perform. One of my favorite quotes from the show was this one:
It was a really funny show. The person playing Dolly was amazing. And I could spot Julian in every scene he was in.
I've only seen Hello Dolly once before and that was when my grandma used to do set design for some high school. I was about five years old. The only thing I remember is this awesome giant staircase. The touring productions staircase did not disappoint me.
After the show was done I started speeding out because I like to be fast. The ensemble actors were collecting money for the red bucket thing so I saw Julian DeGuzman and put 20 dollars in the bucket. I asked if we could take a picture and he was like 'I can't take pictures in costume sorry. But I promise you can get a picture at the stage door' and I was like 'okay!' And I started walking towards the front entrance. Then I heard my mom say 'She's a fansie' and I was like 'mom if you say that to every single Newsie I'm never going to a show with you again!' And she laughed.
Then we finally got to the stage door which wasn't that busy. I met a whole lot of nice people. Then Nic Rouleau came out and I had a fan girl moment. We got a picture and I apologized for nothing like 96,000 times. I have a problem with apologizing I think. Then finally Julian came out and he was like 'you're the fansie!' And I looked at my mom and then said 'yeah' and we took a picture.
Then we walked back to the car which was in this parking lot next to the theatre. Julian DeGuzman biked by and was like 'bye it was nice meeting you!' And I died! I actually died!
So overall it was an amazing show and y'all should go see it. 10/10
