“Raven where the hell you been in my car? You going to have me late for work! I try and be nice to your ass, and this is what I get in return?”
“Trina, I told you I had practice today”.
“You didn’t tell me shit, you gone have me late! I had shit to do! I gotta get my nails and shit done! You think I’m going to get good tips with some jacked up feet?”
“Here”, Raven said handing her the keys.
Trina snatched the keys before going out of the door and slamming it.
Raven heard someone laughing, and turned around to find Jason, Trina’s new boyfriend, sitting on the couch.
“You must think you grown?” he said and continued laughing.
Raven ignored him, and went straight to her room and locked the door.
She called Nadia back and got into bed.
“Hello?” Nadia asked answering the phone.
“She didn’t answer”, Raven said flipping on the television.
“I can try her mom’s cell”, Nadia said.
“You got her mama number?” Raven asked shocked.
“Yeah, she used to text me off her mom’s phone, before she got a new one”.
“Text her number to my phone, I’ll call, since I was there when it went down”, Raven said.
“Hold on,” Nadia said, “I sent it”.
“Let me call her right quick, and I’ll call you back”, Raven said hanging up.
As soon as she hung up, there was a loud knock on her door.
She instantly became terrified, because even though she would lock the door, Jason would always find his way in her room.
There was another loud knock on the door.
“Ray open this damned door!” Trina yelled.
Raven hurried over to unlock the door.
“What the hell you locking doors for? Don’t nobody want your ass!” Trina yelled in Raven’s face.
“I’m sorry”, Raven said putting her head down. When Trina got really upset, she would actually hit Raven sometimes. And just because Raven grew up in the hood, didn’t mean she knew how to fight.
“Fucking right you sorry! You ran my gas out of my car! I need some gas money!”
“Trina I put ten dollars in your tank. I don’t have anymore money”.
“Well I guess your broke ass going to have to find a job then, because you are going to give me my money”.
“Trina I can’t get a job, I’m only fifteen”.
“I’ll talk to Black about letting you work down at the club, because you sure as hell don’t look fifteen”, Trina said leaving out of the room.
Raven grabbed her phone and purse and left out of her room behind Trina.
“I wasn’t talking about now dumbass!” Trina yelled at Raven.
“I know, I was just going outside”, Raven said.
“You better be in the damned house before it gets dark”, Trina said getting into her car.
“Okay”, Raven said walking toward the park. Well, it wasn’t exactly a park, because the guys around the hood had tore it down so bad, that the kids had nothing to play on.
When she made it to the park, there were a bunch of people hanging around. It was like the whole hood was at the playground.
“Hey ya’ll” she said walking up to a group of guys.
“Hey Ray”, everyone said, except for this one guy.
“Hey baby”, Jaron Gibson, JG, said wrapping his arm around Raven’s shoulder.
JG and Raven had grown up together. Both of their mother’s were crack addicts.
Raven laughed before saying, “Hey Jaron”.
“Stop calling me that, and what you doing out here with all these niggahs?” he asked walking off from the group with his arm still around her shoulder.
“I needed to get out of the house. I didn’t have anywhere else to go”.
“You sister still got that niggah living with ya’ll?”
“Yeah”, Raven said turning her head.
“He touch you?”
“No”, she said smiling.
“Did he touch you?” JG asked louder than before.
“I said no”, she said frowning.
“Yo, you better not be lying to me”, he said sitting down on one of the tables that were in the park.
“I’m not”, she said sitting down on the table beside him.
“Whatever, don’t be coming to this park if I ain’t out here. These niggahs out here real disrespectful, and you too fine to be out here.”
“Who you supposed to be? My daddy?”
“Shit, I’m gone have you calling me Daddy eventually”, he said laughing.
“You play entirely too much”, she said laughing at him.
“But for real though, don’t be coming out here by yourself. These niggahs get buck real fast out here. You got my number, use it.”
“You got enough chicks using your number as it is”, she said looking toward a group of girls that was peeping out her and JG.
“Mane them broads just want me for my money”.
“Like you not using them for something too”, she said.
“It ain’t like I have to beg for it”, he said.
“They don’t have to beg for it either”.
“So what you trying to say”.
“I’m saying you’ll get with anybody that open their legs”.
“I ain’t get with you”.
“I don’t open my legs!”
“Not for me”, he said standing up.
“And not for anybody else either!” she said standing up to face him.
“Back up Raven. Mane stop taking shit so seriously”, he said putting his arm around her shoulder.
“Get off me”, she said pushing his arm off of her, “you childish”, she said walking off.
“I love you too!” he yelled after her.
