THE sun was beginning to set over Italy and everyone was back at the hotel. MJ had told Lucy she was heading out; going down to the lobby to join the gathering class. Lucy nodded, faking a smile and telling her that she was going to freshen up before joining her.
"Don't take too long," MJ chuckled, hand holding the door open. "Mr. Harrington is starting to grey from so much worry."
Lucy chuckled, the reaction making her body hurt. Pursuing her lips, she nodded. "I'll be down in about half an hour...maybe a little bit longer."
MJ bobbed her head once before closing the door behind her.
Lucy fell back onto her pillows, hissing quietly to herself. Closing her eyes for a moment, she flinched when Peter slipped through the room's window.
"Oh, jeez." She sighed, rubbing her eyes. Peter frowned at her state, moving slowly to sit down on the edge of the bed.
"How are you feeling?" Peter asked in a soft tone, his hand sliding up the bed to gently grab hers.
Lucy sighed through her nose. "Sore."
"Listen, Lucy, I appreciate you going out there today and helping out, but you really scared me today. And I was afraid I was going to lose you." He explained, eyes trained on their connected hands.
Lucy's thumb rubbed softly on the back of Peter's hand. "Hey," with her other hand, she pushed his chin to force him to look at her. "It's what we do, okay? And you don't have to worry about me, okay? I'm tough as nails." Right after, she hissed in pain, which only debunked her remark.
Peter deadpanned at her before helping her up. "You know it's different for me, Luce...I just don't want to see you getting hurt." He gently moved some hair out of her face.
She looked up at him, back slouched. "Yeah, I know..." She paused and the two sat in comfortable silence. Leaning down, she placed her head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry for scaring you. I didn't mean to. Its just...you didn't have your suit, and it was in the heat of the moment..."
"Go take a hot shower, okay? It should help with the soreness." Peter asked in a calm voice before kissing her forehead. Lucy could only nod. Getting up, she moved slowly; gathering her clothes and garments before moving to the bathroom.
Peter sighed through his nose too, laying down on the bed and letting his mind wander. Pulling the small ring box from his pocket, he opened it. Inspecting it in the lamplight. He bit his lip before stuffing it back in his pocket. When would be the perfect chance?
LUCY let out a breath as she exited the washroom, now dressed in sweatpants and a fitted shirt. Her hair was combed out, and it was gathered over one shoulder as Lucy dried it with a towel.
