"how's the food, jimin?" namjoon asked, attempting to break the awkward silence.
"good," jimin mumbled, poking at the meal he had ordered with his fork.
the elder admired the boy across the dining booth from him. eventually creeping his hand over to clasp the younger's smaller, unoccupied one.
jimin's gaze shot up to meet namjoon's, a grin plastered on the elder's face. "you look nice today," namjoon chuckled.
"oh..?" jimin blinked.
"yeah, you look nice every day."
"...thank you," the younger coughed, returning his gaze to the restaurant floor.

both jimin and namjoon hopped out of the car, they had arrived back at jimin's house at around 12 pm.
namjoon was escorting jimin back inside, when, they spotted an unexpected guest. he was sitting against the front door, his eyes drowsy as if he'd been waiting there all night for jimin to return.
"jimin!" yoongi exclaimed, jumping up from his seat.
"i was so worried! hobi was worried too! i was starting to think you wouldn't come back home! god, jimin, is everything all right? what happened the other morning i-" he stopped his rambling as soon as he noticed namjoon and jimin's conjoined hands.
"yoongi.." jimin huffed. "please go back home, i'm not ready to talk to you about anything yet."
yoongi opened his mouth to speak but then decided against it. "...okay," the eldest inhaled sharply before turning to leave.
