This chapter is shorter than usual and that's because it's a bit of a filler. It's some well deserved Natsu and reader time.

*3rd POV*

It was about 3 in the morning when you got up. Great only 2 hours of sleep. You shifted a bit but to no avail, you couldn't fall asleep. All your moving around must have woken Natsu up because before you knew it, he was awake. "(y/n)? What's wrong?" "Oh, it's nothing Natsu, go back to sleep." At this point, Natsu was sitting up and rubbing his eyes. "Don't lie, what's wrong? Can't sleep?" "I... oh I don't know anymore Natsu. I thought being home would help me sleep, but I guess not." Natsu said nothing as he stared at you, a distressed look on his face. Now wide awake, his full attention on you, he finally spoke. "Well, what would you like to do?" "Hm? Oh no. Natsu you need sleep, I'm ok." "Nope. If you can't sleep, then I can't either. Now, what do you wanna do?"

A huge grin appeared on his face as you couldn't help but blush ever so slightly. The only other person who was willing to really stay up with you was Diamond, but this was different. A lot different.

"Well, um..." you thought for a moment before you suddenly got an idea. "Come with me Natsu, I wanna show you something." You gently set Happy down (careful not to wake him up) before getting up, Natsu following shortly after. "Stand back." You shifted into your dragon form before you bent down and told him to get on. When he was on and holding on tight, you took to the skies.

"I don't know what his intentions are, but I think you need to see why I'm so frantic about training and making sure Mao doesn't get his hands on life and death," Natsu said nothing as you flew as fast as you could with someone on your back. About 40 minutes later, your destination was in sight. Natsu's eyes widened at the sight he saw. The entire land was dead. As you flew over the once thriving land, a sadness washed over the both of you. Natsu was in disbelief. What happened? What was he seeing?

"What happened here? What am I seeing (y/n)?" Natsu asked slowly. Your frown deepened as you found a semi-safe place to land. "Don't get off, it's not safe. *sigh* A very long time ago, there were six continents on Pandora, not just five. This was during the Second Great War that this all takes place, the first of the two great wars that I fought in." Natsu turned his attention towards you as you said that, showing that he was listening. You started walking around a bit before you started up again. "I'll give you the shorter version of what happened. I was still really young at the time, so my judgment wasn't the best. It was 150 years after the First Great War had ended, but some of the tension was still there. Most things on Pandora live for a few hundred years, so some hadn't forgotten. Sadly, some hadn't forgiven either. At the annual world meetings, I remember my father telling me all this, the countries weren't getting along. It kept getting worse with every meeting until Poe finally declared war on Croan. Overall, it ended up being Poe and Norze on one side with Croan, Quillince, and Accora on the other. Morvive declared neutrality, wanting no part in the war. The ruler of Morvive was a very peaceful ruler and hated fighting. Now, most of us were neutral as well, but my father owed a debt to the king of Croan and was asked to help out as repayment to that debt. So naturally, I wanted to fight beside my father. I was old enough to fight and I wanted to help, but I didn't know what I was getting into. So, we fought in the war along with my brother who wasn't gonna let me fight alone.

Now here's where it really starts. In total, the war lasted 333 years. In the beginning, Croan's side, or "Hope" as their alliance was called, was winning as they had us. "Justice" or Poe's side was losing by a long shot. Sometime during the war, Mika and her father entered the war on the other side along with Valory's father, Death. He changed the tide and we slowly started losing. The last two years of the war was when it happened. Croan was losing, and even though we were fighting, my father told us to hold back and to not fight unless we had to. It was the same for Mika and them, they were holding back as well.
