I know we felt love
the first time our eyes
landed on each other.
Like a flickering fire
ignited by a fuel.
Our heart beats
the same rhythm
that produced an orchestra
no one can impersonate.
Our love was unique
but just like the other,
it came into an end.

We look for each other's presence
as we walk along the throng.
Hoping just maybe, we will
bump into each other just like
the good old days.
And as if our wish was
heard by the stars,
we found each other once again.
My heart beats so fast
it cannot contain the
massive love I hold for you.
You stood there, meters away
from my grasp.

Then we walk, slowly
closing the gap between us;
meters to centimeters.
Finally, I can hold you.
But just as our clothes
are about to touch,
a thunder screams above.
Warning us about our
parents who cannot
put off the fire
raging between them.

So we just smile,
and for the last time
we wave goodbye
and walk away.
Centimeters to meters,
once again.
I failed to touch you,
to talk to you.
I just saw you for a second
but it is enough.
More than enough;
my asymptote love.
