"Sup." A voice says as Vivianna, Sage, and Thea walk down the pharmacy isle of the grocery store. All three turn to the culprit, and raise an eyebrow when they see Angel.

Its only been about two weeks since they last saw her, and thats only because prior to the break they were in school and passed the alpha in the halls, but she already looked different.

Her hair was a nice blue color now, curly and well shaped to the strong features of her face. She had a piercing in her brow, and two studs poked out from her collarbone.

"Hi." Thea was the first to speak, and Angel smiles.

"I heard the rumor going around, and about Lily," the girls nod and Angel nibbles on her lip, "is Sophia doing okay?"

"Sophia?" Sage asks dumbly, and Anna nudges her softly. "I—Im sorry, I just— After all she's done to you, you still care?"

"Well, I am— I was her friend." The alpha huffs. "Before she mated Lily, she ignored me. Then when I found out, I was so angry on her behalf and jealous that I told her I wouldn't... be there for her."

"Angel, none of us were there." Thea mumbles sadly.

"Speak for yourself." Vivianna rolls her eyes. "I tried."

"No, you supported what you thought was authentic and real. I didnt even do that." Angel looks away. "I just— I know she needs someone right now, and I dont think she'll let that someone be me so I thought I could at least get an update from you guys if she wont give it to me herself."

"Have you tried?" Sage wonders and Angel shakes her head. "Why not?"

"Because I already know the answer."

"Look, Sophia is.. hurting. She's confused, and its a very complex pill of feelings for her to swallow. She doesnt know who to trust, and the people she should trust," Vivianna looks sideways at Sage, "well, most of them want nothing to do with her right now."

"Its stalemate in the house when it comes to her. Even our parents are keeping a good distance away." Thea shakes her head. "If youre hoping for an update, we dont have it— no one does. Im sorry."

Angel sighs and nods. "Thanks anyway."

She turns away from them, and they watch her. As she walks, Sage licks her lips and looks away.

"How could Soph give that up?" She grumbles and her sisters eye her weirdly. "Angel clearly still cares after being brushed off for so long, and Sophia gave up on that for Lily."

"You talk as if you always hated Lily," Vivianna snaps and Sage goes quiet, "watch your tongue."

"Regardless, Sophia let her go when they couldve had something." Thea mumbles and Vivianna gasps. "What?"

They couldve had something. Couldve. Why cant they still have it?

"Im so stupid!" The beta yells as she rushes off in the direction Angel left in.

—————

Sophia blinks her eyes open, and relaxes at the familiar darkness that enveloped her and her room. She's kept every bit of light out, and it was for simple reasons: she didnt want the outside to see the chaos inside of her, she didnt want to see how the world moved on when she couldnt even leave the bed, and she most definitely did not want to see how life flourished when she felt dead.

She clings to the last article of clothing she had of Lily's (the omega left it that night when she stayed over), and the dreadful fact that this shirt was the very last thing that had Lily's scent crept onto her. She had nothing else that smelled of her late omega anymore.

"You didnt have to do it," she whispers and notes how hoarse her voice is from the lack of use, "you couldve talked to me..."

Tears fill her eyes, and she clenches them shut. She rolls onto her back, and she covers her face with Lily's shirt. She takes deep breaths, but nothing screamed comfort. She wraps her arms around herself, and tries to imagine it as Lily, but it just wouldnt work.

"I miss you," she finally cries and tears the shirt off her face in a burst of anger, "but I fucking hate you at the same time."

She tosses the shirt to the side where everything else was, and cuddles the nearest pillow. She sniffles, and wipes her eyes as she tries to breathe through it.

"I hate you," she chants softly as she drifts off into sleep, "I hate you so much."

When she wakes up again, everything is a blur. Her curtains are opened, blinding her, and the bandages around her neck are gone. Theres a soft, wet cloth being pressed to where her mate mark used to be (where she clawed it off) and she can hear a soft voice whispering to her.

"I'll close them." They say and Sophia lazily grunts. They must sense her discomfort about the light. "I just needed them opened so I could see."

The beta keeps her eyes closed, and resists the urge to push whoever it was away.

"Open your eyes, baby girl." A hand gently holds her cheek and tries to coax her. She smells the scent of Marcel, and relaxes a bit— thank God it wasnt her momma. "I know youre hurting, princess, let me see."

The pup huffs, and feels the wet cloth being placed on her neck. Marcel kisses her forehead. "You dont want to see the world without her, I know. You dont want to see your future without her either. Thats why those curtains stay closed— so you can ignore the reality."

Sophia feels a tear fall down her cheek. Not only was it true, but her own little darkness— her shield thats meant to protect her— was beginning to fade. Without the comfort of Lily's scent, the omega's clothes and even Sophia's room held no value or protection. Even with the curtains drawn and the door blocking everyone out, Sophia is being forced to see life after death and she simply isnt ready for it.

The beta wants to hide for a minute longer, just to cope, but she cant. Like everyone else, she figures, she is being forced to move on. She has to.

"Youre a strong girl," Marcel mumbles as Sophia feels new bandaging being wrapped around her neck, "and I know you can do this."

When he finishes, he kisses her forehead. "We love you, honey. We love you very much."

She hears the curtains close, and the door shut before finally opening her eyes and looking around.

We love you.

"How?" She whispers. "How can you?"

Big yikes.

What do you think Vivianna is doing with Angel?
Do you think Angel should be back in the picture?
How do you feel about Sophia trusting Marcel but no one else?
Even after this heals over, do you think the family will ever be the same? Why or why not?

As always, love you all! xx
