1.11 The Mad Hatter

Night. On the road.

I was driving down the street, through the fog. Suddenly there was a guy in front of me and i hit the breaks.

I gasped when i felt the seat felt nearly choking me.

Then i got out of the car and walked over to him" I'm so sorry! Are you okay? I didn't see you there. "

I froze when i realized who it was.

Mad Hatter " Uh, I think so. "

I asked careful "Are you sure? "

He nodded " I'm fine. I'm not used to sharing the road with cars so late. What brings you out here in the middle of the night?"

I shook my head, lying  " Oh, nothing to worry about. I'm just looking for a lost dog. "

Mad Hatter " Well, I hope you find it."

I nodded "Thank you. "

He walked away but he had on obvious limp.

I sighed "you are hurt"

He shook h is head "No, I just twisted my ankle, I think. I live just a mile down the road. I'll make it okay. "

Me " No, let me drive you. I insist. "

He froze but then nodded " Thank you. I'm Jefferson."

I nodded "Echo"

At his place.

I pulled over at his place and froze "Wow. This is your house? It looks more like a hotel. You must have a huge family."

Jefferson shook his head and got out "Nope. It's just me. "

I got out too and helped him up the stairs.

I was waiting in the living room for Jefferson. thank god he doesn't remember who he was.

Jefferson walked into the living room with a tray of tea "Here we go. I thought you might want to warm up for your search. It's cold out there. "
