Blue.
I felt like I was drowning in the color as I stared it his cobalt eyes. They reminded me of the sea, in the middle of an ocean or a deep blue iris.
Only, those eyes gave away nothing. They looked colder than ice and stonier than a brick wall. The only expression I caught was realization before it had disappeared behind that mask of his.
I managed to move my eyes away from his, long enough to study his face. The sharp, defined facial structure showed off his inhumane beauty and from the vibe I was receiving, I knew he was a werewolf.
Though, his vibe was a lot more dangerous than the usual Were.
I didn't know if my heart was beating faster beacuse of that, or because of my reaction to him.
His body set mine alight and into an explosion of tingles. My body was aware he was near, and I felt that restlessness diminish as my eyes latched onto those blue orbs that had captured my attention.
Nothing mattered. Nothing but him and I.
I didn't care that his gaze made my heart beat faster with anticipation. I didn't care that this was a normal reaction to a Werewolf finding their mate.
I didn't care that he was a rogue.
The territory was unclaimed, causing to to be either rogue's terriotory or unknown territory. Just one wolf would signify that it was no longer unknown and now, declared as Rogue's territory.
I didn't believe that I would be blessed with a mate, and hope spiralled deep within me. That little girl who had always watched a Werewolf boy in hopes of him being her mate, had finally had her dream come true, and I couldn't have been happier. He may have been a rogue, but he was still my mate. He was still mine.
But as I looked at his face, he didn't exactly seem happy about the fact.
He stared down at me icily and I felt the urge to speak up.
"Uh, sorry for bumping into you. I-I" Introduce yourself, my inner self yelled. "I'm Lily."
Nervousness raced through me, and I registed that the tingles from my waist had left. He obviously taken his hands away from my body.
That's when I saw the disgust in his eyes as he gazed at me. Was he repulsed by my body?
My heart pounded more savagely against my chest and I sucked in a breath to keep from crying.
My eyes painfully pricked up and when I looked back up at him beneath my lashes, he had frozen. I realised he was about to brush past me, but after seing my face he had stopped.
Jesus Christ, was I that repulsive that he had to stop and stare?
Something I couldn't decipher showed in his eyes. Sadness? Guilt? Anger?
Pain?
I didn't get enough time to look because he completed his mission in brushing past me and escaping. Not bothering to run after him, I let my head droop toward the ground and tears trickle down my face.
*~*
I was sitting at the back of a taxi cab.
After my mate and I's little scene at the supermarket, I had grabbed a bite to eat (one that was full of carbs, a helpful remedy for a depressed girl) and moped around the furniture stores. A few of the shopkeepers were kind enough to ask if I was alright, and of course, I lied and replied with a 'oh, yeah, I'm fine.'
But my mind kept on replaying our meeting, over and over, and it was starting to drive me crazy. Being reminded that he had rejected me and was repulsed by my body would make a river flow down my face. Did he have a reason for rejecting me?
