No.

No, no, no, no. He wouldn't have- no, he couldn't have. It just wasn't possible and my brain refused to acknowledge it.

My began to beat harder with fear and I stared at luke with a mixture of shock and horror.

He had sent them. He had set the rogues after me.

Luke, obviously seeing my distressed expression, rushed on.

"If I hadn't of brought you to the party, you wouldnt be in this mess," he admitted softly, his eyes completely sincere.

My shoulders slumped and a wave of relief rolled through me. He hadnt meant to send them. It was a mistake.

But a lethal mistake that had caused me to pass out from fear.

In his green eyes, I saw a mixture of guilt, regret, and pain within them as he uttered, "Im so sorry."

Before I knew what I was doing, my arms wrapped around his neck and I pulled him down for a hug.

He was warm, his chest against mine, yet through all the contact, it still wasn't anything close as to being near Cole.

Luke and I stood, our arms wrapped around eachother, and it was enough to make me realize what a perfect friend he was.

He was there for me, hugging me and caring for me when I hit rock bottom.

I mean, I was sure you couldn't get any lower than having a 'mythical' creature after you, as well as the same 'mythical' creature being your mate.

It was hard really, and I was surprised he was even rubbing my back soothingly as the tear that had leaked out of my eyes had turned into a river.

"I've never wanted to just give up, Luke. This is just so hard." I sniffed.

And within another minute, I was sobbing and blubbering out things, even though I was the one who had initiated the hug to make him feel better.

I pulled out of the hug and wiped the last tear away using the corner of my sleeve. Luke's eyes softened and he looked as if he wanted to hug me again. "It'll get better, I promise."

*~*

I wasn't able to bring jax home that night since he was staying over night at the vetenarian.

A rib was broken and he could hardly breathe without the use of a tube feeding him oxygen, though I was lucky he had survived.

Luke and I drove back home, and by then, it was midnight. The roads were barely driven on and the sky was bordering black apart from the orange glow of the lights edging around it.

Luke was the only one capable to drive, his eyes barely sleepy and his grip firm on the steering wheel.

My concentration was barely there with me yawning every three seconds and my eyelids drooping so low, it felt like lifting a sumo wrestler every time I forced open an eyelid.

To be honest, I was surprised that I didn't fall on my face as I attempted to get put of the truck.

Blearily, I stumbled up the steps to my porch before patting myself down in a search to find my key. When I couldnt find it, I frowned.

"Looking for this?" Luke gave me a tired smile before showing me the silver key hidden in his pocket. He jammed it into the lock and opened the door, making a sweeping motion as if to say, 'come on in'.

I walked in, once again reminded of Jax since he wasn't there to accompany me at the door. Luke spoke again, "I need to talk to you tomorrow,"

I let out a groan, "Haven't we talked enough?"
